I'm not sure how to interpret that, so I will clarify: I had no idea it involved multiple races of different lengths, never having done it myself. The Strangers & Freaks side-quest to unlock it with the psycho woman was more than enough button mashing for my tastes. I had no interest in undertaking what the name would suggest was a gruelling sequence of three different flavours of button mashing. If I'm looking for a diversion, I much prefer just cruising around the streets, running down motorcycle riders.

What button-mashing? Is this a gamepad thing? With keyboard you only have to hold the button for sprinting on foot and press once for the bike.

Ah so the thing with Ultra grass quality is that in addition to a slight bump in view distance it additionally enables some type of ambient occlusion, no wonder it's so demanding then.
Interesting to see a better comparison between the shadow settings too, Nvidia PCSS does look pretty realistic but it loses a lot of detail even a short distance away from the player character.

There are not that many pin point light sources in real life and the bigger the light source, the more scattered and blurred the resulting shadow will be depending on the distance of object and surface

Where did the rest of 500mb go? |
That's what everybody is asking from Nvidia |
its the aero type desktop. min used on basic is around 240mb, so there u go. I already checked this shit out and why I do not mind the old jokes about 4gb being 3.5 on the 970. I have my card using 234mb ram with aero tweaked on this system some people have it use more.
No idea about windows 8 not got to use that yet. So there is a slight amount not used or slower but I wont worry about 250mb or so lol.

But Aero gets disabled by Windows when a fullscreen Direct3D application runs, and gets reenabled once the application exits.
Windows 8.1 uses Direct2D, no Aero.

"Disable visual themes", "Disable desktop composition" on the exe should turn any fancy stuff while the game is running I guess?

Go to your documents/Rockstar Games/Gta v/Profile/Your profile number and locate this two files : cfg.dat and pc_settings.bin. Delete or move them, launch the game and should be fine. |
Nice, thanks for that!

Supposedly it's a known issue with SelfFM (or whatever they're calling it now) running custom audio causes stuttering.

These aren't applicable in Windows 8/8.1, you can no longer disable Aero manually - which causes trouble for *some* titles.
