there's a lot of hidden cuts in that
well hidden though
there's really no benefit in not having the cuts as it makes filming so much easier
lol not really. camera isn't on track. it's a lot harder to shoot to make it look one take.
only time they would cut is when they're panning over empty space. stopping the take and continuing later on. unless their chronology assistant is that bad ass or...
Daredevil will return! Marvel’s acclaimed superhero drama just received a second season order on Netflix.
But there’s a twist: EW can exclusively report that showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) is stepping down from the series. Instead, writers Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy)—who worked closely with DeKnight and creator Drew Goddard in the first season—will both serve as the showrunners for season two.
The next edition of Daredevil will debut in 2016 as Netflix gets ready to release several other Marvel dramas: A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. After all four shows debut, Marvel plans to team all its Netflix heroes for an Avengers-style series called The Defenders.
Daredevil debuted last week and received some of the best reviews of any superhero TV series, with critics praising the show for bringing grown-up dramatics, a cinematic style, and more realistic violence to the small-screen genre. Its single-take hallway fight scene became an instant classic. A fair measure of the show’s creative success can doubtless be attributed to to DeKnight, who said he was trying to push Marvel’s comfort zone, and made many unique storytelling moves. (For instance: the show’s major villain, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), was originally supposed to be introduced in the first episode, but DeKnight rather boldly pushed him back to the very end of the third hour to more effectively build suspense around the character.)

Ehhh... Not sure why they'd change something that worked. Pushing Marvel's comfort zone was what made the show good, IMO - it was grittier, darker than what we're used to in MCU. I hope this move won't change that and I hope they get some qualified writers to replace people who are now going to run the show. That example about Fisk's introduction perfectly shows that DeKnight's vision did influence the quality of the series in a good way - his moving on is regrettable. Still, thumbs up for season 2, I guess.
Holy shit that manbaby is annoying. Other than that i find the series pretty.. well... i want to say average, but average these days is pretty shit. So a bit more than that
... a bit dull, weak.
Especially the fight with Fisk: it had to be a lot more pulsing, painful.
Instead we had 2 catches, 5 punches...and that's all.
Considering Murdock never took less than 2 minutes to knock down any kind of grunt, they could've spent more than 4 minutes for the final fight.
A real pity.

You guys haven't seen Children of Men? That war scene has lots of comparable cuts. Very cleverly done, and I prefer this towards actual cuts, as it is very immersive and keeps the tension and pace going.
If they say it was a single take, ok. It's still a cool scene, but then it was actually not shot in a very convincing way, with all those weird close-ups (at 0:44, 1:11 and 1:43). They could have done in it in multiple shots with the exact same results, but probably less of a hassle.
Again, in Children of Men, the car scene in the beginning was an actual single take, but it had no 'completely black' close-ups or anything like that.

there's a difference between a one take shot with CGI and a camera on a programmable track and a handheld single take.
The walk through the battlefield in C.O.M is amazing.

That's really memorable and breathtaking, but not fight-wise.
This is fight-wise:
(no cuts and just 1 CG addition, the broken glass)
I think Foggy was the most enjoyable character of the show. This show isn't bad at all (I enjoyed it) but the fighting was too repetative. Let's hope they can kick it up a notch for the next season.
I don't understand this complaint. He's a fighter, not some Kung Fu master who knows 30 different styles and does flying kicks all the time. How should he fight?

That's probably the coolest fight scene ever, I agree! I just used CoM as it has both real as 'faux' single take scenes, but with hardly noticeable differences, despite their high complexities.
Anyone knows if there are 4K rips of Netflix content being made? For example I search on KAT for Daredevil 4K and there were none. If not, why?

The data was drawn from a sample of 2,500 Netflix subscribers watching via computers, tablets or smartphones. There’s one caveat: Luth Research does not yet track Netflix viewing on TVs, whether Internet-connected sets or those linked to streaming-media players or gaming consoles. Because Netflix hasn’t offered much recent insight into its audience composition across devices, it’s not easy to conclude whether TV viewers watch different programming than those watching via other platforms.
But the data provides a rare glimpse into viewing patterns on Netflix, which has frustrated many in its refusal to divulge audience data. That’s proved problematic for producers creating original programming for Netflix and for the studios that pocket billions of dollars in licensing fees from the company.
Netflix declined to comment regarding the Luth findings.

Finished Ep5, the show is really good. Other than Foggy and Karen being useless sidekicks I like everything else. Oh and the violence a couple of times was too much, like they were showing off.
Really looking forward to finishing the season....

There's a distinct difference in pacing between eps 1-6 and the rest, which is a shame really. I really liked the fast pacing, but suddenly they take a much slower pace on things the second half. Was it a lack of content thing? Some scenes are drawn out, some are useless etc., while in the first half of the season it was developing quite fast.
Still a very nice show overall, but I didn't like the difference I saw. Will watch the coming seasons.
