So Far I´m not impressed. Seems rushed and unbalanced. The new atmo model is wonderful for flying but the rest is meh. Calling this 1.0 is a joke. The game is out of beta so it shouldn´t lack so many basic features. No matter which part of the game everything is half-baked.

Maybe I expected too much..

Tried this game yesterday and was very disappointed. Gameplay seems to consist mostly of slapping a few blocks together. The actual flying isn't that much fun. Graphics are poor. Interface is confusing.

Don't worry, this means the game isn't just for you, that's all Wink

This is no sarcasm, but it is not the type of game for everyone for sure.
For me, the description you gave above just match better with Minecraft though Very Happy

I played a lot of Minecraft, I enjoyed every bit of it. This game can be fun, probably, but it needs a shitton of polishing first. Everything feels unpolished. There's just some dynamic missing, all that's fun are the 'creatures' (no idea how they are called). The rest is just, meh.

Definitely not a game for you then.

Sure there are still stuff missing and some fixes needed, but development won't stop with 1.0 !
Devs are great and so are the community.
If you want KSP to be a complete game, you will need Mods (some are just incredible and FREE) in v0.90 I used around 58 of them. Mr. Green

This game is about rocket science and space exploration. That's it.
Sandbox and flying aircrafts are just here for ... the fun.

Now I still find weird that you enjoyed Minecraft a lot and calling KSP : meh game. Scratch Head

I played KSP shitton on 2013 Christmas, but after that I somehow have not been able to get into it again :I

Maybe would have to try with some mods. I've always played it without any mods at all.

I think the point of the game is the challenge of building your own aircraft and then setting your own crazy objectives. (or your own program, or your own sustaining offworld base...etc. etc.

It's a pure sandbox with brilliant features and way for you to have fun, but without a clear and simple beginner objective it might be difficult to find the fun factor. (mine craft at least had you try and survive the first night.)

A simple one I can suggest would be to build a craft that can land on the moon and then return home safely and undamaged.

The depth, challenge and feeling of achievement when you do a challange that for the first time is brilliant.

Otherwise watch other people play the game and see how they approach it to have fun. Trust me when I say the space craft building is the least intersting part of this game for me.

Get yourself into orbit and make a trip to the Mun before throwing in the towel. The game is very much what you make of it! You can make it your mission to go where no kerbal has gone before, build a huge space station, or make an awesome space plane.

Take a look at Scott Manly on Youtube for ideas and tips. And yes, Mods. Treat it like Skyrim.

Install various mods for hours on end only to stop playing after 5mins once you get it all to work?

@zibztrollingme Razz

Also look at what happen when you don't play KSP enough :

"Apr. 28 2015,
Hours after launch, this image, received from the on-board engineering camera, shows the spacecraft spinning "uncontrollably". Good thing Space-X delivered the espresso machine!"

Very Happy

" Progress M-27M is confirmed to be lost as the result of yesterday's events. It will be left stranded in orbit and will eventually burn-up in Earth's atmosphere in the next few days. All of its cargo (supplies and science) will be destroyed with it. A Progress loss isn't too terrible of an issue in the short-medium term, but the lack of telemetry from the Progress after the failure isn't going to help the investigation by any means. The next resupply mission to the International Space Station (right now) is SpaceX's Dragon CRS-7, scheduled for June 19th."

Not sure a " Very Happy " is fitting since this will disrupt operations on ISS potentially.

It's not that dramatic, they have enough supplies and spare parts to last through a failed resupply.
They might have lost some experiment stuff and personal items allong with supplies, but nothing mission critical.

Haven't read up on the cargo list tho, but Chris Hadfield touched the subject in his book. Smile

Of course they will be fine until the next resupply, but it's still a setback since it limits the amount of crafts being able to go up there for now, which will be limited to SpaceX Dragon and Cygnys.

You know where the fun of this game is? Figuring it out, i mean at first i was fucking stressed at how fucking hard and weird it was to me.

But then i got into space, then orbit, then back, then i took the mun goal.... how the fuck... dude, i spent the whole fucking night building rockets to go out and still have fuel, then landing on mun, then back, that was it for me. The fun of building and figuring this shit out and making the trip and succeed in it.

And then i met the other goals i could think of..... other planets, learning techniques, making ships i could reuse etc. Then missions came in and all was shown to me as a true goal with rewards. Trust me, it takes time but figuring it out and making it happen, is a great feeling in a game as weird as this one.

This game is a LOAD of fun, a huge time killer, ill never stop playing it.

Have you tried rendezvous/docking yet? I had a tall rocket needing rescue after running out of juice while spinning. Interstellar moment...

Yeah that was one of the hardest things for me to learn, i had to watch videos to fucking get the idea of how it worked, now i do some really crazy stuff in KSP.

I had refuel stations with the big orange tanks full, waiting for long mission rockets. Very Happy
