What blur where you seeing before? I don't remember seeing any if I disabled the depth of field. Not like GTA4, where it had a constant distance blur filter.

You have some form of PPAA turned on. And judging by the image quality, I'd say it's FXAA, SMAA is more accurate than that.

I don't see it in either... I also like the lighting on the vanilla better, but that could be time of day difference between printscreens.
Are you sure it's not the sharpening? I don't like artificial sharpening because usually when applied on a pre-rendered image, it creates ugly artefacts on hard edges.

The sharpening in arma 3 is done nice that slider option is great for after you got rid of all jaggies you just slide that thing up and all the grain of wood and wall depth comes right back out. So far best use of it I have seen in a game.
I have yet to be dissapointed in gta 5 with everything turned up and dof and motion blur turned off.

That doesn't make sense. Out of the three PPAA algorithms everyone uses (FXAA, MLAA, SMAA), SMAA is the best one by far. FXAA does exactly what you describe, smear its vaseline over shit it shouldn't even be touching.
If you want a crisp image, don't use FXAA. Period. Use MSAA with SMAA for the best results.
Your ReShade image looks blurry btw. That text on the gun :S

What's up with that chromatic aberration shit? Can that be turned off?

This looks pretty blurry to me on the walls to the right and the fridge to the left. The chromatic derperration around the chandelier is especially terrible.
I think some minimal blurring is still a lot better than chromatic aberration.

Why did anyone ever build in a lens flare effect in an egoshooter? Why are there sharpening filters?
Because people are insane.

Yes man.
Optionally some mod or tool would be helpful to automatically switch to third person when driving vehicles, and first person when on foot

It's more realistic and gritty and cinematic.
Together with SSAO, they are the worst effects of the last few years, even worse than bloom (fake low precision HDR + tone mapping) and color saturation.
Gritty `n` shit
