|
 |
Quote: | After collecting "enthusiastic feedback" from a survey launched in April, GungHo Online Entertainment America will bring classic role-playing game Grandia II to Steam for Windows PC, the company told GameSpot today.
Grandia II for Steam is being remastered using the game's Dreamcast version, which was published in 2000. In addition to an HD visual upgrade, Grandia II on Steam will have both mouse and keyboard and gamepad support as well as Steam achievements and Trading Cards. |

One of my my favorite JRPGs, the old windows version released years ago was pretty shit and based on the inferior PS2 version.

I sure hope we will see more games from them with HD remasters.
The Lufia games and Grandia 1 and 3 would ne great.

1 is too old and those early 2d/3d hybrid games aged terribly it would probably only work as a real remake and i think Square Enix had it's greedy hands in 3 so i doubt that would be possible either.

I really enjoyed the first game. Never played the sequel, definitely will pick it up.

Never say never... but I regard Shenmue as another case of Red Dead Redemption.
I will always want to have them re-release it on PC... but at the same time I keep thinking: it won't happen.
I'm already happy for some of the games we are getting these days... even if its not the ones we want the most... but maybe with enough sales they start thinking of the less popular ones.

Both games were amazing.
Sucks Grandia 3 turned out to be such mediocre shit.

Yeah the story turned to shit halfway trough but the gameplay is still the best in the series so i just played it for that i mean Grandia extreme didn't have a story at all and it was still good.

Typical thing in a series, one is everyones favourite so therefore the others will be regarded as shit... while in reality it might just be a lesser game compared to the one they love.
But people love their hyperbole, makes them feel special

Hehe, we all are
But yeah, while I absolutely go nuts over Grandia II... 3 was far from being shit and I quite enjoyed it.

Based on the screenshots the game still runs at 4:3 aspect ratio. No widescreen support?

"There's a lot of technical stuff we will detail closer to release, but I can assure you there have been improvements. Whether its textures to anti-aliasing to aspect ratio support to lighting, there are several areas the HD version will see visual improvements. "

Coming to GOG, also has some screenshots.
(I guess they haven't started updating the GUI yet as it looks pretty bad, can't say much for how the game looks as it's how I remember it looking when I played it years ago but maybe there's anisotropic filtering and AA now.)
EDIT: Whuups, already posted here.

(So it is from the original game well that explains it then though that "Grandia II HD" watermark threw me off.)

Geez, journalism at its finest. Boxed PC copy of Grandia 2 that was released around 2002 is standing on my shelf to this day, so...

"HD Edition"
That is a weird understanding of "HD" edition.

These screenshots are from original game, there is even a copyright notice from 2002.
I don't think we have seen actual screenshots... unless there is no difference and they just used old ones kek

Yeah those screens are from the old version, they allrdy said they want to overhaul all the assets and textures (i sure hope the fmvs as well since tthey are used for spell gfx too) a bit and the game will have better lightning and ofc higher resolutions and widescreen.
