You just couldn't resist. Dem 60 fps too much for 30 fps trained eyes.

I mean... I only have pitty 2gb 7870 which goes 40-60 all the time and the game stutters.
with 30 everything is stable, gfx maxed and no stutter Razz

Gta was always fine with 30 for me.... tho this is first gta which is well done for 60. Mouse works as it should and it generally feels ok. I wanted to check out pc version and delete it anyway. finished the game 2 years ago anyway

I beg to differ, 30fps gives me eyestrain, little drops about 0.5% of the time doesn't, easy option Wink
Plus also, rather lower graphics and 60fps than higher with 30fps..

But gfx are so nice, it's hard not to set everything to max. And I don't have any problem with 30fps and like stability of it (and stable frametimes) so I win-win I guess ? Laughing
As long as I am comfortable with playing a game with controller and there is ok motion blur, 30fps is fine for me. I've learned to switch back and forth couple of years ago. I've always seen the difference and stood by 60fps (or 120 back in crt days) but now ? I am too busy and to lazy to give a damn.

I just enable my "i dont give a fuck" mode and max settings if the game feel. Believe me, Ignorance is bliss once You learn how to embrace it.

Not really... I said 'can' and your specific example I wouldn't disagree with. I was thinking of more frequent dips that 0.5% of the time Wink

That is obviously a subjective thing. Very understandable though. Still its still very subjective. Some people see the image repetitions and resulting stutter more than others. Also the display can have a huge impact. On my display for example I can sometimes count the repetitions Laughing

I also sacrificed like 10-15 fps's for better graphics. And best way to fully enjoy it is to turn off all the damn fps counters so i don't bother myself with that number in top right corner anymore.

I tried with MSAA off, but aliasing is so terrible i rather play with less fps. And on top of that extended view distance is set to the max Very Happy

Not only for that... anything that relies heavily on movement I will always go for smooth 60.
The times I didn't go for that was due to being forced by lacking hardware.

Yeah I've seriously tried it before, to cap to 30 because maxed out couldn't reach stable 60, but after some time my eyes just start to itch and tear and I get a headache.
Could be because I haven't played a game on 30fps for over 10 years and am most likely not used to it anymore.
Even television or movies on 24fps are just not pleasant for me anymore, i always boost them up to 60.

@Sausje
Your eyes shouldn't hurt... You might not like how it looks or feels but eyestrain is extreme reaction.

Do me a favor and jsut for test do this:

Cap fps to 20 (yes, 20 or even 15) with maxed motion blur in-game.
Then after like 5-10 minutes of "playing" cap it to 30 (keep maxed motion blur) and dont look at anything 60fps inbetween recapping

The idea is that Your brain starts accomodating to low 20 and then all of sudden its 30 and it would feel like such an improvement. Srsly its a brain cheat and works for me.
If I play a 60fps games and then a game comes out, that I can;t for the hell of anything keep close to 60, I play it at 15-20 for a short moment and then switch to 30. Didnt had to do that with gta b but that stupid brain hack is just amusing to see how it works. I've tested it on my gf and tricked her into thinking that 30 is 60 after torturing her with very low framerates Very Happy

Wait how did you had to sacrifice fps with 3 times a 970? SLI scaling bad in this game?!

Actually terrible framerate can cause almost strobelike effects in motion. It is very subjective, some people manage to not notice it much, somehow.

Cool Story man

weird.. 24fps video is not percived as single frame-by-frame slideshow because each frame is very blurred. That is thanks to how shutter captures movement. the same 24fps video with each frame super sharp (like in games without motion blur) would be vomit inducting. Ofc in movies, You dont have to control the player

I think for me in this game its the fact that I play completely in first person that makes 30 fps such an eyestrain. there are games where I can tolerate it.

Here i tried the half vysnc mode and got nauseous within the 10 seconds.

That is seldomy the case. The stutter in 24fps video isnt so much better than video games, that it doesnt matter. 24p just plain sucks if you see its effects. Again, its subjective.

not this shit again Laughing
tricking your brain or not, you re not just passively watching a movie but playing a game, hence there is a very important aspect in play: input delay or basically overall responsiveness. you can fool your brain all you want but your reaction speed and accuracy in-game will still be worse at 30 fps unless you can contol time and space.

Tacked on? It's probably the best implementation of FPS to a TPS viewpoint, and it's amazing in every way, probably second only to how ARMA does it.

Yeah, that was gonna be my reply, but I was mid mission. gta in first person feels better than actual first person shooters that do nothing else. Laughing

The gun models, the swaying animations, iron sights, all top notch. then the bike driving in fp view. orgasm inducing all by itself. same for planes.

variety and detail of car cockpits that surpasses actual racing games.

there's nothing tacked on about the first person viewpoint in GTA V.

when i think of gta V, i think of an amazing first person sandbox game. that's how important first person view is to me here.
