Haven't been following this discussion much...thread is moving so fast due to hype, but I do have a question.

4K gameplay has been shown, but any news about multi monitor...I googled a bit(very briefly) but no info. I hope it hasn't been ignored, even though it's consoles first. It did worked well with 2 previous games though. Very Happy

Regardless I'm looking forward to this,Triss ftw. Smile

Me too. Well, at least pcgameshardware.de are as serious as it gets, reputation precedes them. If that's the case I should be able to max most settings while tuning a few ones down with my GTX 670 (I don't plan to use Crapworks anyway) Very Happy

only the lastest have yet to be translated by fans. It's not part of the main saga and is most probably irrelevant to the games

So i shouldn't focus on that. The books found on amazon, ebay, etc. ( i think 4? ), are relevant to the game?

If you want a good taste of the novels just read The Last Wish or The Sword of Destiny. Both are a collection of short stories you can get through easy enough before the 19th. Some great stuff in their too.

Just be warned that apparently they aren't the best translations. Polish people I've spoken to on RPG Codex seem to think a lot has been lost in translation.

They don't have a specific number, but judging by their "most fluid version" wording, I think it's reasonable to assume it's at least 40+.

Yeah, their "really good frame rates" bit has me worried. Sounds more like 30-40 to me, which is "really good!!!!111!" to some people, but not me. Though understandably that's Ultra and only a 770/280, so if a 780/970/290 can do better then that's fine by me. I just don't want another repeat of W2 Sad

Yeah I'm a dumbass, hopefully it's fixed now.

Anyway I hate the inconsistency. Sometimes it looks pretty awesome, when the right weather or time of day occurs, and sometimes it looks like something from the last-gen.

I don't understand why they downgraded that particular part. In the older footage a bunch of stones covered such edges. I don't even think they were a product of tesselation, just a couple of relatively simple models. Would removing them even improve performance in any meaningful way? So strange.

Personally when I play games with controller I don't really mind stable 30 fps. Sure I can spot the difference immediately, but it's not as uncomfortable to play with controller at 30 fps than it is using KBM. And since W3 is clearly made for consoles I think playing it with controller will be better.

What do you think will be a better optimized Wink game? This, or cyberpunk? Laughing

Anyway what worries me more than the graphics downgrade right now is the open-world nature of the game. No location shown so far in screenshots from W3 looked as memorable as for example Flotsam from W2 Chapter1. I think the locations looks more flat than in W2. I think it would be interesting to see Flotsam in Witcher 3, if it's present in the game.

Speaking of AMD from earlier;

http://www.overclock3d.net/articles/gpu_displays/witcher_3_dev_says_nvidia_hairworks_unoptimizable_for_amd_gpus/1

The HairWorks stuff *will* work, but will impact performance to such an degree that even CDPR recommend not enabling it :\

Aye, but I'll be playing with a k/m and 30-40 is just not fun Sad I'll just have to turn things down, especially HairWorks. Same as TressFX; it's "pretty" but largely just fluff (aha! Very Happy) and pointless fluff at that.

What makes it more strange is there's been images of the old-style corners in the most recent version of the game. For some reason they downgraded that one wall and not others.

I've seen quite a few breathtaking locations, but yeah most of what I saw wasn't memorable like you said (a bit emulating real life), but many reviewers have already said that the open world is magnificent more because of the captivating things you have to do in it and interesting people you have to meet than anything else. Well, they also commented on the humongous size of it, of course Very Happy

in the 4K German video they switched between it and the FPS dropped really fast especially in the bathtub scene (They didnt even use it on Yennefer, only Geralt). The whole hairworks thing was probably just to get some marketing money from Nvidia... pretty much proof of concept. And they were on a Titan.
