Really, all this is getting very confusing and really we do need someone that can clarify it all...What I understand from all I have read is the following,
1.- Games with SF Protection version older than 3.5 works with DT4 and SFN.
2.- Games with SF Protection version greater than 3.5 need to UNPLUG IDE cables.
With the two points above, from my point of view, DT4 does very little to improve our SF problems. But today, I have read need posts and things are getting more complicated,
a.- Some members say they run every game with DT4 and SFN.....Please can you explain how you do that, if you have to unplug your IDE cables and what do you mean by all games?
b.- Other members tell that they cannot make any game to run with DT4.
c.- And now the SATA "revelation". There are posts that indicate that if you have Windows installed in a SATA drive you dont need to UNPLUG any cable..only use SFN. If this is true, can you explain the reason, or better what options do you use in SFN?..really...only saying ALL THE GAMES WORKS doesnt help a lot.
LAST MINUTE TESTS:
I have a SATA HDD and IDE optical drives. I concluded te following using GT Legends as dummy test,
1.- GT Legends + DT4 + SFN : Disc Protection Error
2.- GT Legends + DT4 + OPTICAL IDES UNPLUGGED : Works OK.
So please, the member that posted about SATA drives can he calrify if he has IDES?, if he unplugs them? or what configuration does he use with SFN?
I will post newer results with my SATA HDD later...But please I make a call to someone who can clarify all this mess..Thanks.. |
I can play GT Legends just by mounting the image. Dont have to unplug my IDE drives

when you say sata drive, you mean sata disk drive? or sata cd/dvd drive?
I have a sata disk drive, will that save me from unplugging the cables?

ide jammer. is a sfnightmare like tool to be intregrated in dtools4. no need to unplug drives also with daemonv4 when that tool is ready. of course dtoolspro is a way better and permanent solution

no theire isn't yet progress is slow but after deamon pro release probably everything gets better ,then other virtual drive company's will try to do the same and create IDE virtual drives.

Connected my drives to a cheap Promise Ultra100 TX2 I had and now all I need to do is disable the controller in the hardware manager to make StarForce accept the DT4 drive. Had only read about the USB method so far.
Only letdown with that controller is that it needs a CD inserted in any drive during bootup to enable itself, but better than unplugging anyway. |
Just make sure your Promise controller does not create problems for the optical drives you connected. Do some read / write (if you have a DVDRW or CDRW burner attached) tests. If things go bad replace the Promise with a Silicon Image controller, they have better support optical drives.

Really strange what you are talking about. Can you post your system specs and tell us how do you do it....Here are the final researchs with DT4 and GT LEGENDS using SATA HDD and IDE DVD/CD ROMs,
1.- GT Legends + SFN+DT4: Blue Screen and Crash...After testing I realized that the problem was turning off a channel with SFN thar hasnt any drive on it. After correcting this mistake the ERROR DISC Message appears.
2.- GT Legends + DT4 + Unplugging IDES = Works OK
So with newer versions of SF, Ineed to unplug cables and the game will work only mounting the image. At least that was what happened to me. I have a SATA HDD, and that didnt make the newer SF games work with only SFN.
So, I encourage the members that claims that they dont need to unplug the IDE Cables and have SATA HDD, explain what are they doing. I really doubt they are able to do it (not trying to offend anyone)..Thanks

4) In Device Manager I disabled for the active hardware profile IDE burner and after that entire IDE channel
5) Started the game and it works fine even after updating to the latest patch

Abnyone can confirm this?.....And moreover, anyone can confirm this for other newer SF games?..thanks
