I reduced crashes greatly ( still cop em every now n again after a long cutscene) after change from fullscreen windowed to fullscreen windowless.
I'm not sure why it defaulted to the windowed mode maybe a hang over from lords of the fallen or the game just set it to that in it's peculiar fuck everything up default setting.
still running the 350.12's - I don't bother changin drivers unless somethin goes really wrong.

I had thought it was just the 760 oc I whacked back in when a new 970 shit itself but if lotsa other ppl gettin crashes it must be the game Oh well I guess it'll get sorted by the time I clock the thing which will be about the same time the vendor send me a replacement 970 Crying or Very sad too bad
Tell the truth I don't mind not havin 100% graphics cos the game is great, but the crashes are frustrating as fuck.

Good evening everyone!!

I first would like to say that this game runs amazingly good on my rig.
Here are the settings I used and a few modification in the Nvidia CP before trying out the game.

Specs :CPU - Intel I7 5930K @ 4.5 Ghz
GPU - Strix GTX 970 @ 1536 Mhz
Memory - 16 Gigs DDR4 @ 2800 Mhz
Screen - Asus 27 inch 120 Htz
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate

Nvidia CP settings :
Pre-rendered frames set to 1 Single GPU performance ( does not apply to sli in my case )
MFAA ON
VSYNC ON
AF 16X

In game settings : 1080P
Everything on ULTRA except Foliage Density Distance to HIGH with Hair Works ON
AA - OFF BLOOM - ON MOTION BLUR - OFF VSYNC - OFF SHARPENING - OFF VIGNETTE - OFF CA - OFF

I believe everything else in Post processing is ON With these settings, no INI tweaks yet...

I get an average of 50-60 FPS. Highest goes 70-75. Lowest dips around 40-45. That's playing. Some cut scenes locked at 28-30 and others in game cut scenes 40-60.

I do not have any stuttering or lag so far. No crashes whatsoever using latest Nvidia drivers. Played for 2 hours strait.

I have been playing around that small village after killing the ghouls.Scrrenshots :

Out of curiosity, where is this? If it's near the bridge to the west of the first town, it might be the very same guy.

It happened here, and he's the only guy riding a horse on that road. Think we may have a case of serial necrophile nilfpig in that area!
The wolf wasn't white, so there's that too.

Finally killed the griffin (on Death March) Cute Pom Pom's

A tip for those in white orchard.
Gather honeycombs (whenever you hear or see bees, cast igni at hive, pick it up).
You can them sell them to the herbalist for a good price. 18 coins for each.
There's also a second herbalist, not sure if he also pays 18, but if he does it's around 700 coins total. Disposable income for booze and cards Razz

Is it always windy in this game, or are there days without wind? It's really over the top i think.

Does it rain?

(still in the non-open world tutorial area or what to call it). Really great game so far though, like expected.. the attention to detail is really amazing sometimes Smile

Rly, except for phantoms, there's no point in using anything else.

No, Witcher 1 was already "Igni to conquer all" Laughing
From chapter 3 I only used the blades in a couple of boss fights, everything else igni -> igni -> igni -> igni -> igni -> igni -> igni -> igni -> igni -> igni (along with maribor forest, petri philter and tawny owl = ultra pwnzororz)

Of course, i'll just put my ass on the line for hungry wolves that can kill me in 3 hits to chew on, instead of using Igni and insta-killing half of them Rolling Eyes

...well its time for me to face the truth... i had hoped it wouldn't be the case, but i know what - to me - this games biggest failing is...

i can forgive a lot in a game... i LOVED witcher, but it was by no means flawless... the combat was very unrefined, as was the sign casting... the dialog and animation were ho hum... but what it DID have in spades, was a tight focus and phenominal atmosphere.

i can let a lot of the negatives in witcher 3 slide, but what I can't get past, is that im just not FEELING anything. perhaps its because the worlds too big its become too generic. I can enjoy the occasional interesting location from a visual standpoint, and SOMETIMES when the weather rolls in it borders on giving me some kind of emotional response, but for the most part the locations just feel like places to get through to reach my questing point. seen one forest, seen em all... one shitty little 6-home village is the same as the next...

guess its 'realistic', but I dunno... what i loved about the original games has steadily kinda dried up the more 'open' and 'large' the games have progressively become. fuck i want to replay the first game again!

So the performance is abysmal... But i can kinda play with 30fps lock and controller so... Well ok... It feels rather bad and i even had to lower few things to keep 30fps
Is there a way to switch the camera? Its so far and during fight geralt positioning in the middle of the screen blocks the view. The movement is super clunky too. Thankfully characters are fantastic. I still think that w1 was better and i even liked its unique fighting system more but i am not too far in w3 yet

i loved witcher 1 but absolutely hated that mess of a hybrid combat system, it was really the only bad thing about the game, i still dont understand why people like that combat system so much.

Because it was almost exclusively based on character stats and preparation rather than player reflexes/twitch skill.

Also the selection of stances and parrying added a large amount of depth. Evading wasn't as easy as the rick roll in W2.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Bug:

- start fight with bear
- silver sword is drawn by me, in preparation
- when I start the attack, game automatically changes the silver sword with steel one (no animation, but more like a "teleport")
- of course, I do 0 damage to bear
- switch to silver again
- land a blow with damage
- one second later, game automatically changes the silver sword with steel one
- from now on, game won't let me use the silver sword in this fight

Oh, got rid of the inventory bug/freeze/crash, by switching frame lock to "Unlimited".

Smile

yes, but why make it a hybrid combat system and not just an infinity engine style one, since it doesnt rely on twitch anyway.
to me it looks like they had a more classic system and somewhere during development someone demanded for a more twitchy-looking combat system with a 3rd person shoulder cam.
i like the fact it was mostly based opn stats and preparation, but the execution was weird.

anyway, not to derail,
witcher 3's open world is the most lifelike one i ve experienced in a game so far, its not overloaded with annoying crap to do like peenquisition and recent ubiea games, and instead looks very realistic and dynamic.
in love with it So Much Win

combat could be deeper though.
