Ya. Very Happy
Bought the pass from a shady looking guy for cheap and then just entered the city easily.
Guess I wasn't supposed to do that on my own. Razz

Hahahaha nice! I just bought the pass from that guy (half price as well), used it to cross the Pontar but then decided to turn around and go back. I didn't want to go to Novigrad yet (wasn't sure if it was possible yet) until I progressed a bit more in Velen Very Happy

Anyway, yeah I guess it would be better if you go to Velen and do everything there before continuing doing stuff in Novigrad. But it's really great to realize the freedom the game allows you there Smile

Something else that I think it's great is the big risk and uncertainty of entering those monster dens where you don't know if the big monster is gonna be like 10 levels above you. Just experienced that a few hours ago and had to run away like a little girl and in the process wasted some resources Very Happy

Wait, so from Vizima Palace you fast traveled to Novigrad (which is actually exactly the same as fast traveling to Velen, in both cases you end up in that place with all the bodies hanging and the crows) and from there I guess you went directly towards the north instead of going south west to the main objective, obtained the pass for crossing the Pontar and did all the trip to the Novigrad walls by yourself? Is that correct? Very Happy

Afaik you can get the pass by doing a simple contract for a captain stationed at the bridge. Don't remember the level for it, but its at most level 6. I also don't remember if it came from a board or you can just pick it up there. But I've done it, albeit after I got the pass from the main quest line.

Also can I just say

here's a couple: (I'll use the first one) as I could not find my old witcher 2 save.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/what-the-choices-of-the-witcher-2-mean-in-the-witc/1100-6427400/

and this one actually has links to "movies" with:
If you’d rather see the game’s events play out without narration, you can watch movie versions of both Witcher 2 paths, which total three hours of cutscenes, dialogue, and key gameplay sequences.

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-witcher-3-story-primer-catch-up-on-the-essentials/

edited for clarity .. my kingdom for an Editor.. sigh

Thanks ! So iv choosed what I would in w2 if I played it. They could have explained it more in w3 anyway. Even if people plated it, it was years ago

Well, game had 1.5 mil pre-orders. 300k-400k of which were Steam, most likely even more on GOG versions. So I think it was more popular on PC than either console, at least pre-orders.

finally manage to get some free time last night to play.
brilliant game for now, my only issue are with "chaotic" movement of geralt itself and horse. like if i run directly to a wall next to a chasm in most cases i end up dead in chasm because when i hit the wall i canot control the movement.

Not necessarily.

When Witcher 2 was freshly out CDPR mentioned that the steam sales led gog sales by something like 4 to 1.

Now granted, gog is probably more popular at this point than when Witcher 2 game out but I doubt it could have changed the numbers dramatically.

Whichever key site I checked, they all had GOG keys which leads me to believe that there are far more people on GOG than on Steam who own the game.

You could (still can?) get it for ~15 bucks on GOG through VPN, unless steam can match that most of the keys will come from there.

There was a guide floating around here, I don't know the URL offhand. Maybe someone else can post it, or use google.

I think I'm more pissed off about the fact they reckon without consoles, the game couldn't happen. That's complete pus, and it sounds very much like a Microsoft sellout. We give you money, you 'prioritise' the Xbone as the preferred platform for development. As in, don't make us look bad compared to PC cos it won't sell so good.

Even if they release the typical 'Enhanced Edition', I still won't buy it from sheer principle. I wish I'd not bought GTA V, but I was weak for a decent game at the time. CDPR have lost all the credit and rep they gained from their early days because, once again, a good PC development team have decided that quantity is for more important than quality, and sold out for lots of money.

Oh and those preorders? I'm sure a LOT were made way back when, and that the majority of people didn't bother cancelling after Downgradegate.

This game makes Witcher 2 look bad Very Happy It's pretty much Witcher 2 on steriods. When I see this, I realise how moronic the gameworld in DA:I was, even though I liked the game. I haven't even been to Novigrad yet!

Yeah. My biggest gripe with TW2 were the small maps/corridor levels/lack of exploration and they turned those up to 11 in TW3 while also avoiding lameass MMO-style filler quests. It's pretty much what I wanted from a Witcher game after the first.

If only the controls could be fixed sooner rather than later.

I hate the fact that, again!, can't tell if I can safely sell all these books and notes. It also doesn't tell you if you've read them already. My inventory is full of crap in general where I can't tell if it becomes useful or not... and there doesn't seem to be a storage chest either...

Look at it?! This is the lowest row, it goes all the way up except the first row which has my oils.

Even Witcher1 told you if you've read something or learnt a scroll already.

*EDIT* I've read someone buys that stuff from you for good amounts of crowns in Novigrad, didn't give any specifics though. Anyone got an idea?

I agree this is really crap, so crap that every time when i pick up a book i just immediatly open it and drop it again on the place i found it. Not even in the mood to carry all that shit to a merchant for a better price.

Quest related books/notes are placed in the quest items tab. When the quest is done, the book is placed in the useables tab. So you can just sell the books if you've read them. I agree that every RPG should have a "read" tag for books you already opened, but sadly most RPG don't have it.
