Last night i decided to play a little DayZ. I found one 50/50 server and after few tries I managed to get in. I was spawned near Three Valleys and 2 minutes into the game I met a guy with a lot of gear. I was ready to get shot and he came close and said "hey there. I dont usually do this but here's a fully loaded M4. enjoy". So he dropped the weapon and took off.

I just wanted to share this, since it is the first time that I meet someone, who does not try to unload a full clip in my "Friendly" body.

I've had a few guys give me ammo and items for my empty gun. They were a bit cautious but OK in the end. If I shoot them in the back I would literally ruiningn the game because you need players like this, otherwise what's the point.

Haven't played this for a while but has much changed in the last 4-5 months?

new engine next update end of this mnth or for sure they say the update after Smile

take that as you will....

they said could be 0.57 but its really 0.56 masquerading as .57 so maybe they are just buying time with that one Razz

either way they need it soon, other games are improving in leaps and bounds over this game of late.

The part that bugs me is that if I had any weapon i probably would have shot him before he had the chance to approach. I have 99% bad experience with strangers in this game. Last time I played I had some pretty decent gear and I was exploring the north part of the map. At one point some kid appeared from nowhere and started to talk to me telling me that I had to give up and shit, but he did not shoot and even put away his weapon. Since I did not have a mic at the moment to tell him to fuck off I just ignored him. He followed me for a couple of minutes and at one point started to punch me bare handed, which was just annoying. Before I could take out my weapon and put a bullet through his brain he managed to put me unconscious. Twenty seconds later the "You're dead" message appeared.
I was so mad that I would have probably crippled this little cunt if he was around me at this point. And that was pretty much the last time i played DayZ for a looong time.

you made me check the steam forums for this again.

Same brigade of fanboys defending the game in every thread, lead by that crazy bitch theresajesu. Aww Yeah

I don't know if its sad or funny that she isn't being paid for this.

Just read it; you can almost hear the tongue slurping over the dayz devs asses:

well to be honest, even mr "let me climb the everest really quick" said you shouldn`t buy it at this point if you expect anything remotely playable Laughing

but it's been at that point for nearly 3 years now, and they got so much money they could have gotten EA to turn it into battlefield by now Laughing

I got my fun out of this in the mod era, and it truly was glorious at the time, but as an early access product, it keeps looking like a giant scam for a while now.

They're saying that since years too. I still don't see any results. And I'm pretty sure it won't change anything about the other elephant in the room. The immortal Count De-Sync of Lagsylvania.

And dem zombies... let's not talk about these again...

Actually, nothing has changed over these years. Some things even got worse (performance). Except that fluff was added... same old story...

standalone has mostly been good for me but as I said a while back now since the 2nd update after they put in novo in the north etc and all those larger areas it went downhill. The map itself is fine framewise, the trees etc etc always was. It is the buildings and loot stuff that needs complete overhaul.

it is veeeery slow in development,i agree to that.while a lot of fluff got added like m3th0d2008 said, problems from the mod got carried over and went into dev-limbo (like getting hit in general or the abysmal zombie "AI").

I think, that they tried to make it work with that old ass ArmA2:OA engine and boost it a bit to have everything working alright but that failed hard.
People kept pushing for flashlights that do not shine trough concrete, so instead of just changing OA and call it "a totally new engine" actual work with the renderer had to be done (which is almost there, just keep waiting, next patch-we almost promise...since a year or so).

Wouldn`t call it a big scam but while surely a financial success for Bohemia even in early access, it is a project that went in the mud and has to be pulled out to get anywhere close to a releasable game.Knowing Bohemia, they will create some sort of frankenstein 1.0 master that needs a lot of patching and will be,just like ArmA 3,in an acceptable state once it its patch 1.44 Laughing

Who is that eugene guy? twiters a fair bit about development and on the dev team etc. he looks like he is just out of diapers. And he replied to someones question about will they fix the running up hill issue in dayz where you just stop to a step motion.

His reply was, working as intended....

wtf, does he even know that hill traversing was fucked and not great since arma 2 first came out lol? most certainly do not need people like him on the dev team if he feels that is how the game is supposed to be regarding movement up hills.

I am guessing he has not seen arma 3 much and the improvements they made to hill climbing, although not fantastic at times it is a lot less painful to do and no zig zagging bullshit.

so,the fact that you sometimes can`t run up a hill without slowing down to cat-with-broken-legs level (while the person next to you can) is "working as intended"? that guy cant be serious

well it had nothing to do with broken limbs, the general speed in arma 2 or dayz when u go straight up a hill makes one just walk to a crawl, where as in real life you could easily pace quite quick up a slight incline, soon as u hit a small angle in dayz or arma 2 you have to turn 45 degree left or right to pick speed back up and swap direction each time doing this till you get to the top Very Happy

That alone from initial arma 2 days should of been fixed up for a standalone game. To say its working as intended means he thinks that is how it was and was meant to be, in arma 2 when devs were only working on that game they stated at one point it was an issue etc but it never got looked at.

working as intended....

Regardless of the current progress (which I agree with you all on btw) Arma3 might be a great SP experience but online is a total fucking mess....
How those guys are still pushing content and mechanics fixes instead of sorting out the mess of online is beyond me.

For me, the ONLY thing that would make the game feel more playable to me at present is the new renderer and the game not running like total ass when looking towards a town. the zombies I can live with as long as the fps is higher.

Like that I can actually start to enjoy all the new content they've been putting in over the years, at the moment everytime i login I roll my eyes and say "like fuck am i going to play this at 30fps" and promptly go back to playing overpoch on A2 Smile

Anyone here still playing this?

I haven't played it for a while, because my processor cannot handle the game even on low settings. I'll probably try it if I get a new PC anytime soon, but I was wondering if it is dead.

There is an overabundance of autistics who will play this clusterfuck of a "game", no worries. Check back in a year or two, maybe they will have improved it.

They posted the info on 0.60 update and what has been finished and in testing. This includes the new renderer. So it is the next update and its supposed to be by end of the mnth latest.

But that shit don't matter to me no more since getting the i7, frame rates are all fucking great now in cities etc. I did not think it would make an already playable frame rate even better.

Never, ever in your lifetime use anything below "Normal/Medium" in a Bohemia game,it will just put more stress on the CPU on most settings. As for playing,i check it out for 10-20 hours after each patch but it can`t get me hooked with all the things missing/not working but thats just me
