Somewhere northeast or east of oxford. There should be a alchemist in one of those small "settlements" that surely has it.

Okay I played this game properly for a few hours and there's some really annoying elements:

- inventory seems to lock up the game a lot - a friend told me this happened to her a lot and I got it twice myself now

- the camera angle is just ATTROCIOUS. In fact, I got dizzy playing the game and even got a headache after half an hour. When I read that they locked FOV to 60 I was baffled - more console pandering? Anyway, I was about to put the game down because this was simply unplayable when I found out that Cheat Engine has a cheat table that lets you change FOV. Some cut scenes look odd now (with actors being visible when they're not supposed to be) but screw that - it makes the actual game a million times better. In-doors this also makes a huge difference

The controls are a mess, though. And I mean a MESS. Changing signs is clearly designed to be done with a thumbstick - with a mouse it's awkward, slow and annoying. Mouse wheel, on the other hand, is fiddly because it doesn't slow down time so you end up getting hit while trying to move to the right sign. The number keys are also badly placed so you pretty much got to move them to the F1-F2-... keys to make it usable.

Having to escape several times to get out of a menu is a bad idea as well. Is there no common key that instantly leaves the window you're in?

All in all, this seems to be a great game marred with some very basic flaws which all seem to be connected to console crap. Rolling Eyes

Controls are absolutely fine. Sure a 180 degrees change doesnt work properly that is fucked up but besides that its fine. FoV doesnt give me a headache also fine but thats a matter of taste.

well i tought recipes disappear after you make the potions (since potions always remain in inventory), now read that once you find enhanced version, the normal ones disappear from alchemy tab; dont know which is true but as long as potions are in the inv dont care Very Happy

A 60 FOV in a 3rd person game is NOT fine - matter of taste or not, this means you only see a very limited area. And honestly, if the camera was any closer in-doors, it would be up Geralt's butt.

And I'd suggest you look at other forums - even here - a lot of people think the controls are odd and don't feel 'right'. It's not horrible, but there's many small flaws that take the immersion out of the game. Compared to TW1, TW2 already made them worse and now they're worse still.

Go to options/video/graphics/ and change maximum frames per second to unlimited. No more inventory lockups.

I don't have a problem with sign changing. I use the mouse wheel and roll or dodge while doing it. No big deal.

Be sure to use the same key you entered when getting out of menu, For example I for inventory and then I to get out. Same for M map, N meditation, etc.

And yes the Witcher Sense FOV is atrocious, hope they change it, or someone mods it.

To be honest, Ive been waiting for GTAV for PC since it was announced back in 2011 and I never really cared about The Witcher games, never played it, this one is my first, but holy shit, this game is amazing - beautiful, great story, intense fighting...I mean GTAV is fine, but this one is masterpiece.

Is there a difference between importing a savegame from TW2 or just making the choices in TW3?

Does the game import more than the 5 major choices? Do the choices from TW1 still matter in TW3?

I lost my TW2 savegames but I still have the TW1 ones so I could just replay TW2, but I'd rather not, since I doubt I'd be through it fast enough to finally play TW3.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

For witcher sense FOV? The one I got was only for normal camera and latest version bugs out when you reload a game.

It always depends on the what kind of merchant you're talking to. Btw, there is an alchemy merchant in the north eastern outskirts of Novigrad, at the crematorium, who pays you full price for everything but he only has 500 crowns maximum.

Most of us who had been following the Witcher knew this was gonna be a great game. For me control issues graphics issues don't bug that much because its a single player & you get there in the end and there's no (or shouldn't be) ego bullshit about it.

The thing that really impresses me is the quality of the monsters. Witcher monsters were pretty average - even in assassin of kings they were pretty blah. A huge octopus and mobs of drowners etc was about it. I've just bumped into the 3 ladies in this one and they are really well done.
Sure they are a little derivative - what monster isn't? A scary monster with no previous form anywhere else rarely invokes a reaction, & these are only a little derivative -those 3 were great! Babies' limb jewellery, bondage and bugs comin outta a perforated eyepatch u gotta love it.

There isn't a game made that can't be destructively criticised if someone is of that mindset, but this game is great it works on so many levels - if the hassles upset that much just wait for the EE - if CDR do their usual the EE will be free of charge to anyone with a legit copy.

What are you guys using to check fps? Wanted to get an idea of how it runs in some places but:

- fraps is a no go since I'm using an injector for SMAA
- sweetfx's own fps counter does not work with ixi's settings, show fps is enabled in settings but nothing displays
- can't get rtss to display them

The main story and basically all side quests are beyond epic. RPG's from now on will have to work really hard to get to this level. I honestly haven't played one quest that i found boring and i'm over 50 hours in. Its not even what you do in the quests its how your choices influence the outcome and the choices themselves are sometimes far from easy, since the there's no bullshit good/bad choice, you only have flawed people and based off that you make your choice. I cannot remember the last time a game sucked me in so much.

It has issues, the wonky controls, terrible "witcher sense", performance issues for some people (mine runs great so i can't complain, i'm basing this on what people are saying in this thread), but honestly i couldn't care less. The end is a fucking epic game, one that i will replay quite soon (still need to finish) because i screwed up some quests and forgot about others (too high level for them). I'm always a sucker for a story, so people who like to wander around killing monsters in (usually) rather generic dungeons may not like it that much, but its tailor made for me. Its like they took the best parts of witcher 1&2 and made it better 10 fold.

I was honestly starting to worry, because this thread was basically one long bitching section and it got to me a bit (you all know its never good to be overhyped for a game). I also found the White Orchard part rather dull, but after i left the game just opened up for me. I kinda reminded me of Witcher 1 where the first part was rather dull (Kaeh Morhen - or how do you spell it) but then it starts to get epic.

One of the best games i ever played.

In other words, disable every single setting and then use Reshade which, for me, hit performance more than all the rest combined? Thanks Demde, but I'll pass. There are no answers for why this runs like shite for me and "amazomg!111!!!11!!1" for everyone else, other than "my PC is fucking broken"

So I don't care any more.
