For me, Season 1 was the only good one. After that everyone turns into an idiot regarding Kevin Spacey and things go a bit too conveniently for him.
Not directly comparable but this just reminded me of Dexter. Only in Season 1 did I ever think he was in danger but after that things fall in place for him just like they do for KS.

I've seen first season of House of Lies and I sort of liked it and sort of didn't. It's a very dark show, to be honest, a lot darker than Californication, IMO.
