Natsume Inc., a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games, today reveals the next title in the long-running Harvest Moon series, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories. This is the first Harvest Moon that will be on the Nintendo Wii U, as well as the first Harvest Moon ever on the PC. In addition, the title will also be the first mainline Harvest Moon title on both iOS and Android.

"From the farm to the town, we wanted Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories to evoke the feeling of a classic Harvest Moon game with modern twists!" said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume Inc. "We're also excited to finally bring the Harvest Moon series to the Nintendo Wii U, PC, and mobile platforms, where fans have definitely told us they want to see the series."

Go back to the roots of Harvest Moon in the latest installment of the series! Inspired by the old-school gameplay of the very first games, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories will bring players a sense of nostalgia, along with exciting gameplay twists.

Tasked with the job of revitalizing a farm, players will need to befriend the villagers in town to unlock the titular "Seeds of Memories"! Seeds can be unlocked in many ways, such as giving a villager their favorite item, catching a giant fish, or by raising their first cow. Players will need to be up to the challenge of collecting all of the Seeds of Memories!

Old favorites return in the animal department with cows, sheep, and chickens, along with a horse to ride, and a dog to keep as a pet! Farmers will also have a new pet to take care of, but it isn't what they'd expect... It's a bobcat! The bobcat starts out wild, but as players befriend the animal, can they convince the bobcat to become their loyal friend?

Featuring cooking, fishing, foraging, and mining, players will need to upgrade their tools to find the highest-quality items. Players will also be able to participate in contests and festivals like the Cooking Contest and Starry Night Festival! Woo one of the ten marriage candidates – 5 bachelors and 5 bachelorettes – and find that special someone to make their farming life complete!
Look for Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories to blossom on Wii U, Steam, iOS, and Android this winter!

so pretty much farmville with waifus?

Keep in mind that this is a Harvest Moon game in name only since it's developed by Natsume instead of Marvelous (the actual devs behind the original "Harvest Moon" games). If you own a 3DS there's a game called Story of Seasons which is the latest "Harvest Moon" game developed by Marvelous released in the West.

Good to see it's going back to the roots. All the fantasy versions were pretty lame.

Maybe this will finally light a fire under the arse of the developers of Stardew Valley, too. That was supposed to be "Harvest Moon on the PC!" but the devs have been dragging their arses for years now... and then we have Wild Season, a KS success that turns into a GROSSLY price inflated Early Access title with little to no content, lousy controls and lacklustre gameplay.

We need proper HM style games!

Though, I didn't like any after the SNES/N64 ones

This Sad I felt like they went too outlandish and they *really* piled on the complexity and amount of content, which would normally be a good thing but you're still limited by the same amount of time in the day in which to do it. Turned the series from a fun, relaxing, enjoyable time.. into a mad rush against time, spreadsheeting everything and running against a stopwatch to fully optimise your movement speeds, times, harvesting ability.. it was just... sigh. For me; SNES will always be my favourite, always, but it's closely followed by the GBC (mini SNES version but with the added benefit of unlimited play, unlike SNES's 4 year limit) and the PS1/N64 version which were both the same.

I'm also quite partial to Rune Factory too, the "futuristic" combat-oriented Harvest Moon.

The SNES one was the best one, but i would be a billionarie towards the end of year 2 and the game lost it's value Sad

The N64 i couldn't play it very much, way too much romance and social stuff, meh

Oh wow. That... that was disappointing Sad It doesn't even have the cutesy charm of the SNES 2D version, it just looked cheap Sad I guess I'll go back to waiting for Stardew Valley (riiiiiiiiiiiiight, like that's ever coming out) and Wild Season.
