because bethesda publishes the game. i took the same stance against cdpr for its witcher pricing too.

we never paid this much on steam when we had usd pricing (apart from some outliers like activisions COD franchise, and WB games) but now that we have our own currency, its let publishers really twist the knife, and i dont see why i shouldnt tell them all to go eat a dick every time a new release comes out at an inflated price.

Well supposedly the game was to be driven by a narrative and it would be very resource intensive to make a full narrative for two different people/genders. Keep in mind the information posted is over a year old and no release date has yet be given, so a lot of things could have changed and still can change. They could throw the narrative idea away and go with the old style of creation, they could spend the time to make a double narrative, or they could even reverse expectations and make it possible to have a lesbian couple or some other weird combination.

"However, after the main story is over, you can have a gender change. BGS did not rule out Females for possible standalone DLC, however." Clearly they already had designs in place for the possibility of a female character "after the main story" or as "possible DLC" - in the last year that could have become integrated with the main game.

Very Happy "The game really could use some updated NMC's Texture Pack, DarnifiedUI, Rebalance mods.. but first let me see if boob physics have been improved!"

Not to mention the poor dog, I don't even want to know what will be coded around him D:

Up for Pre-Purchase on Steam ... http://store.steampowered.com/app/377160/

Unfortunately no realistic regional pricing, SEA is same price as US.. Usually Bethesda is one of the good guys in this regards.

Based on their previous regional pricing I was expecting about 35 USD equivalent for Thailand. Oh well, if it gets corrected I will buy.

For their last game (Skyrim): $10 cheaper for AU/NZ, $20 more expensive for US

I guess I won't be getting it gifted this time Sad

That music sequence when the airship lifts off over the city damn

Game looks amazing, it may not have many polygons but it sure is pleasent to look at, compared to its predecesors.

And it looks very detailed, very dense, the artstyle is rich but not overly realistic.

I will either pay $35 for a pre-order or $7.50 for the GOTY(or whatever) version when it comes out. No matter which, I will still be playing it day 1.

Strange, since GTAV was priced 99 reais, and most AAA are between 119-129. Hope it's not a trend cause of our struggling currency.

Hopefully there will be cheap copies from other regions. On russian GMG it currently costs about 37$. But who knows if it might get region locked, like Skyrim at release

I think Bethesda does a few things better actually. The environments are more interactive (you can open every drawer, every door, tons of clutter/objects that you can pick up). It really helps with making the world feel more alive.

That might be so, but the price you pay for that is a "city" is a place with a dozen buildings and maybe 20 NPCs. People like to talk about verisimilitude, but how realistic is entering every building in a city and rifling through every set of draws? I'd much rather a city that actually is something like a city in scope, even if that means 4,990 of the 5,000 doors are only painted on.

Well, if you play a Theif type of character i think it's good that you can enter all buildings and and that you are able to go through people's drawers. In TES the NPC's aren't too happy if you enter their homes or go through their things, and they also keep the doors locked at night. So it's somewhat realistic at least (realism isn't always fun).

Haven't tested the NPC's too much in Witcher 3 but they seem rather dumb. I read here that someone killed someone (a guard i believe?) and the guards didn't do anything, just stod there.. not very immersive.

Another thing TES has over Witcher is that you can play any kind of character you like. With mods you can be just about anything from stupid animé characters to Conan, and you can make a living in numerous ways that aren't possible in Witcher 3. I guess this only matters for us who likes virtual life / simulator type of RPG's though, nothing can touch TES or FO/NV here (much due to mods i will admit).

I'd like to see sprawling cities in the next TES though.. Witcher 3 was the first open world RPG to have such a thing, so it's good that they've set a new standard. Bethesda will have to improve, and i'm sure they will, because people are going to compare to TW3.

Which doesn't make for an entirely fair comparison, at least as far as virtues that derive entirely from mods go. Obviously though TES is popular on consoles, so I acknowledge that plenty of people enjoy it in its vanilla state. I've never been big on it myself, modded or unmodded, preferring a narrative-driven experience over random exploration-based experiences.

They are just different types of games focusing on different aspects of the sub-genre.

In W3 the open world is just a backdrop to quests/characters/stories and you can roleplay within a specific role of a witcher - like 80% of the sidequests are witcher-related - the rest are social commentary. The world makes these quests believable an gives them scope and meaning. You travel through the battlefields and see heaps of bodies so you can relate to townfolk hating nilfgaard etc.

In TES/Gothic the quests/characters/stories are a backdrop to the open wrold mechanics/sandbox stuff. They are there to make the world believable and to give flavour to the different roles you can play. Yeah you can be a mage but without the mage guild storyline the world would not react to you being a mage in any way.

I agree that it's not really fair to CDPR, but it's also the reality. Mods does improve their games a ton, no way around that i'm afraid.

But again, i really hope that when the mod tools comes out, TW3 will get a large and healthy modding community for years to come. It's just fantastic for TES. I mean even for Morrowind (13 year old game) new mods comes out fairly often and some of the old ones continues to improve.
