I'm looking for active players to hang out with. Them mini t-rexes don't like me very much. For them I'm easy prey, playing solo.
Willing to restart on new servers.
Still looking into the idea to host my own server with enabled map coordinates. It sucks having to respawn and not finding your way back home. :-/ "Your mind is the greatest map of all", yeah whatever, lol, the map is too big with too few landmarks to memorize it entirely...
This game ... the oh shit moments when your mount dies and you have to unload its entire inventory into your own bags ... The moment you must decide to part from some loot or never walk again!
Mmh, overall I like the game. It still has the new game smell to it and I have not yet detected any cheaters.
However, I'm afraid the official servers will eventually give in to people who complain it's too difficult to do anything. Ie. currently in the end game you can make guns and modern weapons just fine... but the ammunition requires a lot of resources.
I can make a pistol / rifle after maybe 20 minutes of gathering + another 20 of refining the resources (could parallelize the refining process but I'm lazy), but with same amount of gathering + refining, I could get maybe 20 ammunition or less.
I'm afraid it'll eventually go so that you'll make 100s of ammunition with few metal scraps and can run around with assaultrifle on autofire
There are also a lot of cheesy ways to level up currently (Which I also use after me and my friends restarted on EU server)
Ie. crafting 'notes' in the beginning. Takes 3 thatch and 1 fiber. -> 1 experience. You'll get maybe 6-15 thatch / tree and 2 - 18 fiber / plant -> free exp very very fast, + you only 'waste' 3 engrams to learn the notes.
We grinded to level 25 in the first few hours and then started playing properly.
Built a massive wooden gated camp in one of the starter areas. We have a private lake and everything
tldr; I like dinos.
lol, there is another 1xp per craft as well its the sparkpowder, flint and stone. so easy to get because so much of it around if you know where to go.

Yea, sparkpowder is also awesome.
It's only slightly more difficult to start with as you need a mortar & pestle (which has to be placed on foundation).
Oh and the rifle in this game is awesome
0 bullet drop, and if you're prone it's dead accurate.
Of course this means that aimbots will insta gib any players
Another example of bullshit marketing and developer scumbaggery, going from the trailer "visuals" (lol, riiiiiiiiiight) to ACTUAL gameplay? And yet people are lapping this up

Visuals in ultra aren't very different from the trailers. Problems is nobody can run it in ultra
The game is in the top 10 most played steam games. And the graphics IS ingame. I ran it once on epic but playing with 2-5 fps And it was exactly like in the trailer.
The biggerst diff with Rust, RoK etc is the pve endgame content. You can summon raidbosses and have dozens of dungeons/caves for pve players. Its not only players killing other players.
I havent been addicting to a game like this for years. The last time I did was playing Skyrim.....

he actually has all his settings there on low sabin not even the skybox is on creating lighting etc lawl. not everyone can run it though it seems
From what I've read so far, it seems nobody can run it properly (except you.. of course.. ) Though I'm sure it will be Pixar-perfect at 120fps once it's out of "early access! alpha! beta!" naturally
One of the complaints from the game's growing community is how low the framerate is. During our time with the game we've rarely experienced more than 30 fps, with the average being closer to 10 or 15. That's with a GTX 970 card and a modern quad-core processor and 8 gigs of RAM — well within the min spec listed on Steam.
"We didn’t spend a lot of time optimizing for lower-end graphics cards," he said, "because that would have taken development time away from our team."

its runs find and playable here yes. here is the skybox and different lighting look when its moody. not even with epic textures actually think i got that on high.
I just recently find out about this game, because a lot of ppl broadcast it at Twitch, and I only have one question: WHY THE FUCK WOULD ANYONE PLAY THIS PIECE OF SHIT?
Internet - the place where Men are Men, Women are Men, and little girls are FBI agents.
it's still imo one of the most enjoyable survival game, way better than rust, from what i've played
Very much this.
Is the performance inexcusable? Yes. And because of that you're forced to make it look like ass. However, the gameplay is so much more enjoyable than all those other pieces of early access survival trash I've tried. Even at 18fps. That says something, I think.
It looks like crap, moose, and it runs appallingly according to most people But oh well, if you're happy.
well yeah its not optimum by any standards but 35 to 45 fps with high settings and SAO in distance turned off its not that bad play wise.
They mentioned a huge amount already they know is up for fixing and aware of regarding the engine and the teams time served of 12yrs using it. Lets hope its not just waffle talk and they get it done. They seem pretty fair so far and are at least doing fixes, its only been better each patch for me feeling of gameplay so far anyhow. positive in my boat right there
Yeah but they increased performance recently no? Played last night after 2-3 days off and I ran much better, mix of med/high at around 30-40fps
Not with a GTX 660
The 18 is with a mix of low-med.
Are you playing SP? I was constantly having 15-20fps in SP unless I deleted my profile in "My documents".
Yes, I am. I can't find any profile in "my documents" though, looked for ARK, finds nothing. I tried deleting localprofiles / SavedArks from the game folder itself, which spawned me on a new world, but that had 0 effect. Those aren't the right ones?
Yeah indeed, sorry I was wrong with the my document stuff. It was indeed the localprofile in the game itself. It made a huuuge difference for me, in SP. Sorry to hear it doesnt make any changes for you!
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
