The world will have a real economy with a fixed pool of money and resources, and almost all items in the world will be created by other players.
When the game is first launched, it will pretty much just only be a huge forest, and it will be up to the players to build the towns and create the items needed for both everyday use and more exotic practices.
Wurm Online will neither have levels nor hitpoints. Instead, you have a set of skills that define your character, and a list of any unhealed wounds the character has.

Hmm, it sounds a bit crazy, if they make a fixed pool of money and resources wont it mean that stuff you can get per gold piece (or what ever) will move ever upwards if ther comes more and more stuff all the time?

Nope, since the resources is fixed as well you can only create so many swords, then you run out of metals for it.
But this fixed amount has to be adjusted as more players start, if it's too big from the start early starters will most likely end up with huge fortunes, being too small will make newcomers unable to get hold of anything at all.
