Looks ok, I guess. Not really excited though. I DON'T want ME to be open world. I WANT IT TO BE LEVEL BASED. I liked that. But nooo, OPEN WORLD EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

I refuse to believe that EA is doing things right with this one, it's unacceptable for their standards. It really looks too good to be true, too faithful..where are the promised pew pew and autoclimbing at. Imma wait for the hidden surprise elaborate ruse.
A man can only hope

I like level based too, but they weren;t the best designed levels.
and if the open world is great...and it LOOKS great, then it will still be the most unique AAA experience of this "gen".
I am getting excited, ME represents the good in big AAA gaming, an attempt to create things that dont adhere to genres, and work of a blueprint.
and yeah seriously..it looks amazing if you buy into everything, which i shoudln't do for EA.
its playable on the floor, so hopefully some gameplay demos will be incoming wednesday.

So, if it is indeed ME1 with OPEN-WORLD -- fine, I can live with shitty Anita's/tumlbr Faith redesign. |
They said origin story, not original. I assumed it's a prequel of sorts.

No, ME1 was the "origin story", it just the events of what to call "prequel" were told in a very compressed way in the beginning and through the game.
Now, in new ME it is the same story it just they shifted slightly back. To put very primitively, it was:
start [=|=============] end
now it is
start [========|======] end
More "even" story, "reimagined". It couldn't be prequel because we defeat the big boss in the end again. Unless there are BIG BOSSES that rule the world in every new ME game that somehow take over the world in range of time while Faith is still young enough to run and have all the teeth lel

They said origin story, and talked about how we get to see how she became what she became... I'll leave the speculation on possible interpretations for another day.
You based your thing off the word "original" which was not said.

Origin/original, whatever typo (can fix at any moment) I made my point is still correct and stands. It is not a prequel, it is a reboot.
Deal with it.

Dat Frostbite. It may not work well for racing games ( ) but I'll be damned if that engine doesn't work for everything else.

I'm not one to want open world for everything, but an open world is the only thing ME lacked. More freedom when getting from A to B? Yes please.

True, but i wonder how will they rack up the difficulty of the game as you progress?
will the campaign take place in closed off areas, like huge buildings and atrium but then what will be the point of the open world part?
also, will we get some unlockable gear that helps us traverse more areas and keep the game fresh as we progress?

The is on you, because what he said sounded like the same shit the previous game had. Running against other people's ghosts.

I'd really like to play this with a VR unit, would be such a waste to play it without a real sense of height and 3D, it would make the game like a thousand times better.. hopefully it will get support (any word on this already perhaps?)

I completed Mirror’s Edge four times, so I know the first person parkour-’em-up stupidly well. To me, Catalyst feels almost exactly like the Mirror’s Edge of 2008 in all the right ways. The platforming feels identical minus a couple of button press changes that only super hardcore players will notice, and my same muscle memory and sense of timing served me well during my hands-on at E3. For those worried that Catalyst might lose the very specific essence of the original, this doesn’t feel like a reboot—it feels like a true sequel.
