the company that made the game is making a site so people can upload there movies to so other people can see them.
does it need a cdkey cause if it does , them you might have to get a valid key in order to upload your movies etc.

you will need a valid cd key to upload it to the streaming serice that lionhead is running.

however nothing is stopping you from exporting the movie to a wmv file and uploading it to another hosting site

Ok...Im trying to make a WW1 movie...but I dont have enough extras...and none are available for hire, wtf do i do? Like, I wanna have a lead character and a supporting one, but the rest need to be extras so I can have some decent battle scenes...like one scene I wanna have the british soldiers rushing a german position, get mowed down by machine gun fire...then they drag out the wounded and launch another attack which succeeds etc etc

But I need extras so I can have enough ppl die and shit ya know? Laughing
I only have 3 stars - 2 male and 1 female and 1 or 2 extras...which I cant seem to place in the movie...? Tried using the tuts but they dont help....

Do i have to wait till i have like 10 extras before i can fill all the spots i need?

you can reassign some of your other workers to fill in as a extra.,. i took one of my builders and made him an extra to fill in the empty spot

True thyttel, but i should never have to put a Janitor as an Actor, i've put a dude searching for the crew job as a researcher. but i mean, if they get the job they are looking for then they start with some experience already, you just dont give a janitor the lead role, you give it to a new promising actor wannabe! Sad

yea true, but your lot prestige is not high enough to get alot of people so you kinda forced to use what you already have..

I'm so disappointed with this game, I do not know where to start.

The movements your characters are able to make (for instance when they kiss) are so repetitive. You'll notice how the same animations are used over and over again. Just check the officiall homepage, see the demo-movies, and you'll know what I mean.

For instance:

Guy carries dead guy
Guy checks corpse (if it's alive)
Guy is terrified
Guy runs away
Guy kisses girl

All these are based on identical movement schemes, it's Déja Vu over and over again :/

iut does gets better but you know its inevitable.. someone on the official movies forum is saying enough with the knife in the eye scene..

but really this game is full of Canned scenes..
and unfortunatly there is no tool to make your own scenes

Basically you unlock the game.... fuck trying to make custom movies anywhere before the 1970s imho Razz

Well, its like 1930 or something in my game, I wanted to make a WW1 hit...since ur supposed to try to make movies that ppl would be interested in the given time period.
Like when they have that icon thing that said 8 pilots flew around the world and it gives a + to the action genre, I released an action movie like 6 months later and it got wicked reviews

Hmmm...I have 3 actors and 2 directors and 2 extras...and one of the director's has like 65% experience for horror and one of my actors has like 80% horror, yet when i release a horror movie with those 2, it gets like 1 star at most....wtf? The actor has good physical traits, so hes supposed to be good looking, i dont get what the fuckin problem is.

Also, how to import ur Stars from the Star Maker thing? I made like 2 stars but i cant figure out how to import them Confused

it also depends on the quality of the scriptwriting is

Syco, don't forget Genre Fit. Just because you have 100% in horror for everyone doesn't mean it'll be a good movie. Problem is, nothing properly explains how to fit an actor to a genre. Like for horror do you need high physique and low looks? or high both? or medium both?

Also, once you get the post production studio, spend some time with the movies before releasing them, ie: assign actors to the PROPER places (as in, you may get a kissing scene and have both male leads kiss as opposed to a male female, unless of course you want two male leads kissing in the movie) Depending on what you do you can boost your movie a couple 1/5's of a star.

i can has computar?!

Game gets better, and is very addictive, but it's also incredibly, incredibly tedious. I like it, I think it's a good game. Not great, but good overall.

Okay I figured out how to make post production.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change costumes for the lead actors in a movie? ( I want a costume change halfway through)

what you need to do is drag the character to the hanger that is at the right side

Guys here is a little help if you dont want to unlock all the prizes to be able to fully use the sandbox to make movies...

Here's full instructions:

There is a method to unlock everything in Sandbox mode:

1. Turn on "Show Hidden Files and Folders" in Tools > Folder Options of any Folder window.
2. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\Application Data\Lionhead Studios\The Movies\Unlocking.ini (Where [Your User Name] is the name you use to login to the computer)
3. Look for the Unlocking.ini file. If it's not there, jump to step A.
4. Double click the file, to edit. Change the file so it looks exactly like this:

Code:
 highest_decade = 2000
      [prizes]
      RANKPRIZE_1
      RANKPRIZE_2
      RANKPRIZE_3
      RANKPRIZE_4
      RANKPRIZE_5
      RANKPRIZE_6
      RANKPRIZE_7
      RANKPRIZE_8
      RANKPRIZE_9
      RANKPRIZE_10
      RANKPRIZE_11
      RANKPRIZE_12
      RANKPRIZE_13
      RANKPRIZE_14
      RANKPRIZE_15
      RANKPRIZE_16
      RANKPRIZE_17
      RANKPRIZE_18
      RANKPRIZE_19
      RANKPRIZE_20
      RANKPRIZE_21
      RANKPRIZE_22
      RANKPRIZE_23
      RANKPRIZE_24
      RANKPRIZE_25

5. Save the file.
6. Now start a sandbox mode game. If you start it in the year 2000, you will have everything unlocked, and available for play.

If you do not have an unlocking.ini file:

1. Open notepad, by clicking Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > Notepad
2. Once it's open, save the file to "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\Application Data\Lionhead Studios\The Movies\" (Where [Your User Name] is the name you use to login to the computer).
3. In the "File Name:" box, type (with quotes) "unlocking.ini"
4. Follow steps 4 - 6 above.

Awesome tip, Tkmaster5121!! Thanx!

By the way, is anyone here interested in uploading their created movies onto something like MEGAUPLOAD or PUTFILE? It'd be cool to see the different types of creativity. Smile

I keep making "Mary Sue" stories where I'm the hero. Apparently it's a trap some top writers fall into too.

This game would rock if was more customizable. If you could create your own sets and costumes then people could make their own episodes of TV shows.

At least you got a substantial story together. When I let unskilled scriptwriters loose on an action movie they came up with a gangster flick with a gay kiss and a minute of a woman talking about some deal with a mafia boss.

Whoa...That scene of the blond dude standing by the door was pretty gaytastic. Laughing

Were your actors top stars or Joe Schmo types? Wonder if that makes any difference?

that was made right after i started a sandbox mode.. game... all actors are unskilled as much as the scriptwriters, although their strengths are different in some areas..

im just saying that to make the best scripts you should at least pick a skilled scriptwriter.. or better yet make the script yourself..

What makes it even worse is the movie title is called K9 Genius... well do you even see a dog in there?

my problem with this game is that it is too limited and i am talking about this:
lets say i want to start my movie with two guys driving a car and i want them to drive on the same position (one shoot) for about 30-40 secs...but the build in shot is just 10 secs:( and no other way but use the 10 secs shoot - is there any way to make scene longer?
like to strech the part? or maybe slow motion?

TIP:

Lots of Nvidia-users with AMD cpu have problem with bluescreen and CTD. It looks like they found the problem at Lionheads forum

Turn OFF Anti-Aliasing and the game works fine.
