Been playing this over a year still havent finished it. Managing to push myself through it due to my love of the genre. But they are really inept from a technical standpoint - been using unity for years and their use of it is the equivalent of a high school kid making a game.

There are some decent story and gameplay idea but they're fairly derivative. Its sad that is what we have to be impressed nowadays.

In short im somewhat enjoing the game but its hard for me tofully imerse myself when I see I could have programmed that whole game myself significantly better. And my srtist friend agrees he could have done models and animations betteras well. They really need some talent for their next game.

But my standpoint is pretty specific and dont expect many to see in the same light.

The full game has only been out nine months. For what they made this game with I thought it was pretty good. I think what hurt them was not testing the whole game with a wide range of folks before release. You can definitely tell which areas had more testing done.

And yeah, pretty much everyone who says, "Oh I could've done better" mysteriously has nothing to show for their amazaball talents. Rolling Eyes

This is my "nothing". And that's the old version too, newest version is double the size and features (releasing later this year). What do you have to back up your expertise?

Not sure where I claimed to have any expertise. Don't need it to be a critic anyway. However, you DO need it if you're going to pull the "Ahhh, I could have done better." So, again, where is the better? There are lots of game engines out there. There are also a lot that don't ever get used for anything.

edit: Not saying anything about the quality of your engine. I'm sure it's great. Just commenting specifically on the comment.

edit2: Ahh, hell, never mind. fuck that. I take that back. I just saw your comment about how you could do it all better. So, again where is better?? Because you wrote your own engine? That's a significant accomplishment, sure. Much more than I ever managed to learn. But surely if what you say is true "...when I see I could have programmed that whole game myself significantly better..." then you have something to back that up?

Is WL2 perfect? Nope. Far from it. Had and has a bunch of bugs. And performance wise unity has been known to have a few shitty performers. I didn't have any problems with WL2 but I know a bunch here did. But unless you've got something concrete to back up what you said, I call bullshit.

Of course you need it if you're going to call out my comment about their technical expertise. You don't need it for a subjective opinion but this is not it.

And you can call bullshit all you want. I'm telling you I can write a significatly better game (from a purely technical standpoint) in my sleep, and you don't have to believe it. My engine is the best proof I have of my tehnical expertise and that statement. You, however have nothing to back up yours.

Some nice improvements. That red glowing effect in that crater is new, and makes sense since

It also looks like they've fixed some of the areas that shipped with low res textures.

One of the biggest issues I hope they fix is the shitload of locked chests whose skill checks kept rising throughout the game with no justification. For instance late in the game you might see a chest that needs 10 lockpicking, and all you get from it is a couple bullets. Also the fact that way too many chests were booby trapped; it felt like a ham-fisted attempt at making Demolitions a useful skill.

If the other gameplay aspects will receive the same treatment as the graphics, it will be almost like playing a new game. Very Happy Can't wait for the second round, I regret nothing!

I will replay this if power armors actually work. When I played they were a death trap. Put a suit on = death versus anything.

It was more that late game 70% of enemies were armed with energy weapons. If it was just 1 or 2 enemies in each group it would have remained quite balanced with their chosen armour system.

They didn't make sense in a bunch of areas. Like why are scientists in Ag Center booby trapping random chests on their farms?
