Hmm, did they do some performance tweaks in this last patch? Game seems to run even better now Scratch Head

(and I'm glad that fullscreen mode doesn't get reset every boot up )

Edit: seems they messed with some settings in the user.settings file. Tried to apply some tweaks again, but some are even missing and others have changed values.
What do you mean, last patch... 1.07 is out already? Confused

Dunno, something was updating at GoG, thought it was strange since I heard nothing about a patch. It needed access to my user.settings (had put it on read-only).

Checked it out and it had changed values, it removed some settings. Booted up the game and it was running better. Then I installed the new DLC, upped some settings that I couldn't run before and I still get a smooth 60 fps (hairworks was still a no go tho ).

But yeah it does seem to run a whole lot better now at higher settings.

Edit: GoG still shows it at 1.06

Sooo if i go to Skellige can i return to Novingrad anytime i want? Cuz i kinda finished almost all quests & sidequests + couple of witcher contracts and treasure hunts (rest are higher level so i wait) and now only thing left is couple of sidequests on skellige+main plot. Also am i pretty far in main story? Trying to milk the game as much as possible.

Yeah, I think you're free to switching regions without advancing the story or impacting the game world. The only thing it does is inform you of the aftermath of some quests, when you talk to the original quest givers, but this doesn't give additional XP or anything.

Yup, modification date shows that it was changed (user.settings). Didn't notice any perf. boost. Still microstutters and hairworks kills performance on my 970. Still no info about 1.07 :/

What do you want CDPR to do about the microstutters? I understand that's a problem with the card (the VRAM in particular).

Well... I had R270X with 2GB VRAM and had no stuttering. Now I have 3.5+0.5GB Vram 970 and no matter of settings is stutters. So.. it is not VRAM problem IMHO. GTA doesn't stutter with everthing FULL.
So what do I want? Fix. What else?

I'm running it on a 970 without any stutters (that was never a problem for me).
Hairworks is a no go tho... I don't like how it looks and I certainly don't think it's worth the occasional 12 fps drop for it.

People throw that 3,5gb thing too easily around tbh.

The stutter, could it be a streaming problem or a sync problem, you could try dropping the Vsync 1 below (or was it up... forgot ) your monitor frequency. For the streaming there are some settings to tweak?

+1 Also had no microstuttering on a 970.

For what it's worth, despite all the other issues I had, microstuttering wasn't one of them. Considering the insane world size and lack of "general" loading screens, this had by far the best streaming I'd seen yet.. especially on SSD. I could even F1 and use debug cam to fly from one end of the world to the other and it never stuttered.

Same here, streaming is extremely quick even with the free camera and speeding from one end of Velen/Novigrad to the other and I'm still on a mechanical disk.
(I need to get a SSD for the next major PC upgrade.)

The only problem for me was that I couldn't quicktravel to Novigrad because of the state of one of the sidequests (Following the Thread) that resulted in a CTD each time I tried. People say that advancing the quest solves the issue. A workaround is to get to Vizima and then to Novigrad. I finished the quest but have not yet had the opportunity to try the quicktravel again.

I know that micrustuttering is not VRAM issue, I just gave example how my hardware has changed Wink And I know that my ppl with GPU like mine doesn't have this problem. Some of them maybe just don't notice that. From my experience ppl playing more FPS (games that need lots of frames per second) notice stutters faster.

Don't worry mate, you're definitely not alone.. there are plenty of people reporting significant issues with some systems, and others reporting zero issues with relatively the same. It seems it's just pot luck basically.

Dunno bros. I've been following hardware sites quite intensively lately while I was looking to upgrade my system. Was toying with the idea to snag a used 970 cheap when the whole drama was going on (people were selling them good as new for 200€, about as much as I ultimately paid for the much less powerful 380), but microstutters and coil whine were the keywords that came up constantly in conjunction with the card, so I decided against it.

And both are issues that were highly exaggerated.

That's interesting, trying to recall the conversation path I took but I don't think I ever heard her mention anything about a brother, it was just that elderman and his henchmen and of course her parents.
(That other guy also seemed to regret his actions that lead to this mess.)

EDIT: Guess that means that there's a couple of different ways things can go down depending on how you investigate and how you converse with the various quest related NPC's.
(Interesting to hear about the attitude difference as well.)

No coil whine, no microstuttering here. It's true, however, that certain early samples were plagued by these problems.

I'm glad I finished the game before the patches and dlc. It seems every new update creates more issues than it fixes. Does someone say Enhanced Edition? Laughing

They've claimed they have no plans to release an Enhanced Edition, but I bet they will. And one of the features at the top of their list needs to be higher res textures for a lot of objects.

It probably won't help anyone Razz, but regarding the little stutters I just found out (after dozens of failed attempts, including using Durante's fixes) that forcing via Nvidia Inspector the combo Vsync on/Triple Buffering on + 58fps cap (along with Fullscreen mode/Unlimited framerate in the options, since Borderless only makes things worse here for some unknown reason) has made everything considerably smoother for me, with basically no more micro-jumps.

It was the same thing that I did in PES back in the day to fix a similar issue, and surprisingly it worked well for Master Geralt too, for me at least.

Unfortunately computers are so elite, that they develop their own willpower abilities and identity when it comes to such kind of problems, so what works for one person does absolutely jack for another, and so on. Very Happy

No don't worry, just select the correct profile, change the values and click on Apply (top-right corner). That's it, you can close the inspector after doing that^^
