Aye, as a "God of War" clone it was a fun game but, as you say, it certainly wasn't CV and that's my point People *loved* it, the same people whined at detractors and told them to "suck it up" and that this is the natural evolution of the game, how nobody cares about the old ones any more.

Especially in regards to the battle system and some of the more "Japanese" () elements to the game. That, combined with Nomura's worrying talk about "modernising" and "outdated style" of the original.. well, it makes me slightly worried.
It will never live up to the same standards of the original Final Fantasy VII, because the original has something the remake can never hope to achieve and that is the nostalgia and memory of the fans when they first played it, so yea my opinion is people will have alot of negative things to say about the remake, the only chance that wont happen is to make the exact same game with just new graphics, but we all know that wont happen

I'm hoping so dearly.. for it to be awesome, but fuck me, reading the comments everywhere from Ritalin children complaining about ATB being "boring" and "dull" and "slow" just makes me want to bash my head through the screen. God of Fantasy VII isn't my idea of a game I want to play, nor is it what I - or anyone I know - asked for Same reason why Capcom turned Resident Evil into a cover shooter, or Konami turning Castlevania into a God of War clone; gamers nowadays are fucking morons, a lower class of being >_>
Unfortunate but it was probably one of the main features that they were going to change when trying to "modernize" the game, hopefully they'll avoid completely butchering the experience. (I have a feeling there's going to be more changes though.)
Anything but the awful diarrhea combat from FFXIII (and XIII-2... I think).
Worst combat system I have ever seen on any FF, maybe on any RPG game out there.

It's because genY just can't play games, they have to remove any requirement of choice, skill thought from the game to the point you just walk around and the game plays itself out. I just don't think you will see games as great as the classics from the big studios any more as they are too shit scared a gamer may find some content challenging.
If it won't be FF12 battle style, then we are fucked.
FF12's combat sucks. Pseudo MMO wannabe trash. I'd rather we had FFXIII's combat... no, wait, I'd rather we had Lightning Return's combat.
actually ff12 combat was more like a jrpg take on infinity engine than mmo, real time combat where you can give out orders in pause mode etc., it played alot like kotor now that i think about it, which is not a bad thing in my books.
Why calll this a remake or anything to do with ff7 if you fundamentally change the gameplay ffs. These changes are the equivalent of making a fps or racing game and calling ff7. I want turn based combat which generally means better balanced game. Cod generation cannot figure out use fire vs ice boss.
