hi,
i've downloaded this game and transfert it to my ps2 using hdl_dumb... i've boot my ps2 using Hd Advance and when i try looding the demo, all i've got is a black screen and the game won't load...i've try setting mode in the hd advance menu but it didn't work.. what can i do??

ok good, thanks pal. I already got DQ8 so i guess i dont want this. But this also doesn't work from the HDD, it said in the nfo. I just hope DQ8 does, haven't tried yet.

baardhimself u obviously dont know wtf ure talking about, this game has a really unique battle system and although it seems like an action one because u can run around, its completely different. the next thing the battle system could be compared to would be knights of the old republic, but this one is alot more fun imo.
btw the active mode in this game just sucks, evading with the analogstick while having to choose a phoenix down or potion with the digital pad? doesnt really work well to say the least,
wait mode all the way here, its great and it feels completely different from any other ff game not to say rpg in general. i thought this game would suck but now i have new hope again in square.

look, the point is Final Fantasy is turn based RPG, if they want to fuck around and make an action based RPG then they have 40 fuckin franchises to piss around with. What kind of final fantasy has AI controlled party members?! This is more like single player FFXI than a new FF and it reeks of shit. Hopefully the full game will be a tonne better than this demo or this company is heading for trouble.

ff has always been all about story, characters and music, i dont know anyone who plays ff games because he likes running into random encounters,
i ve always been waiting for the day they remove random encounters and thats what they did.
sure the old battle system was fine and they didnt have to change it but they did and its all good, since the new one is pretty fun and doesnt have any transitions/loading times from field mode to battle mode as both are one now.
and i repeat, its NOT an action system, you can play this basically like u played the previous ff games, choose character, issue order, pick enemy and wait for the gauge to fill up, only now u can run around and evade enemies` attacks and i cant see whats so bad about not having to stand still and helplessly watch as ur characters get ass raped by lizardmen...

I love the old format of FF games,
That includes Running into random encounters and turn based fighting.
FFX-2 Was shite, and from what i read about FFXII it looks like this will be shite also.

^ agreed. No matter how you look at this, its a crappy demo.
Final Fantasy 8 had one of the best demos in history, you had the awesome CGI cut scenes, character build up, story, tense battles, a boss and a timed section. With this you get some stunning CGI, that tells no real story, they didnt even translate the japanese voice acting, just subtitles. Theres 2 choices to play and thats it, right into the world. No idea of the characters, who they are and what they do, not a single word of communication between characters, just a screen that pops up that gives you a mission-type objective. During the actual battles i tried to run away from attacks too, but i would either hit invisible walls or magically move positions and be struck. There was no tactical element about whether to attack or heal, because the AI was healing me after every attack. I didnt even need to select an attack because it would automatically choose physical attack. Dont get me wrong, i am a massive FF fan and I desperatly want this game to be good, but it looks like a pile of steaming crap.

No one can possible know if this game will have missions or not, I highly doubt it will. This was a demo that was made especially for this. They made the demo like a small game instead of demoing the actual game, that's what I think.
