Game seems interesting, in terms of character progression. The atlas reminds me of the sphere grid in FF10, and by reminds I mean it's basically the same thing, which is cool.

There are no levels, you get to play one character and unlock all classes and get stat boosts through the atlas.

http://skyforge.wikia.com/wiki/Ascension_Atlas

This is the best feature of the game based on first impressions.

Combat is something between TERA and Guild Wars 2. The world is mostly instanced, and the itemization is kinda poor. From what I saw you get one weapon and offhand slot, 4 ring slots, 4 amulet slots, and 2 trophy slots.

Classes seem interesting, and the setting is nice, a mix of fantasy and sci-fi.

You can test drive all classes through the training area in the game to get a feel for them to see if there's something you like so you can work on unlocking it, since it seems to take quite some time to reach more than the initial 3 classes (or 5 with the founder packs).

I got a free founder key and have been playing it for a few days, and it sucks.

it's a grindy hub based game where you go and repeat content ad naseum, and it is very high latency/janky/zero feedback combat

Character creation was the best part. The rest of the game is planning your build so you can grind optimally to unlock things so you can unlock more things. It made me consider going back to GW2

Well after char creation and the short tutorial, game just kicks you out...

Have to say that graphical-wise, it's quite pleasant on the eye compared to most MMO's these days.

Problem is that usually these 'pretty' MMO's are just grindy, content lacking and shallow games. Good for a few weeks or if you are lucky a few months and then the same old boredom sweeps in. Aka... it only goes as far as that new car smell takes you

Played it for a bit... it's very... um... basic. I suppose the combat is quite fast, but I don't get the feeling my movement makes the slightest bit of difference - there is no way to parry or block, and dodging doesn't usually make much of a difference.

I would compare this very much to Tera, which isn't a good thing.

On the plus side, the graphics are a nice change from High Fantasy.

Try it, but don't expect anything particularly deep.

I did play the reboot right when it came out, weren't in a mood for hotkey combat then. Thought I might be now if I give it a proper chance.

So I've spend a few hours into this, decent combat, boring quests. I like the mini linear area that you can blitz through, I hate the region stuff where it is just "kill 10 boars" quests over and over.

If Wildstar with its slightly more creative quests can't amass players, idk how this MMO is going to fare. Nice visuals and world design though.

Not that Wildstar is good but it has a lot better combat than this.

This game is just there. If you absolutely need a bland MMO experience entirely built around watching numbers go up, this is it. That's literally all you do week in and week out, is increase your numbers

Guild Wars 2 still seems to be the better MMO I think.

the good thing is , this game dosent kinda force you to play. I mean you know in most mmos you have the daily quests grind , for tokens which you have to do because if you skip them you lose them.

In Skyforge you have a similar system, just with the change that you have a cap limit for sparks(skillpoints i guess) .
You have this POE like skilltree where you spend those RGB colored sparks . You have a weekly cap of 6-7k, and when you reach them you get different loot (stuff for the follower system etc) .

BUT you dont need to worry that your leftover sparks , in case you could not hit the cap in time, will be lost , they carry over.

The problem right now is that the hardcore players whine around, because they hit the cap after just 1-2 days of grinding "playing" and then they cant progress anymore. So while this system is ideal for casuals , it kinda hinders the hardcore players BUT , the cap limit increases with each week so it should be fine in a couple of weeks ^^

Oh and btw, unlocking a class takes in the best case with min/maxing sparks, 1 week for the lower ones and up to 3-4 weeks for the higher ones. Monk for example needs 23k sparks to reach, and we currently have a 7k limit Sad
