I always associate KotOR 1 with the Sunry Murder Trial sidequest. The quest was so cleverly written and designed. Awesome

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Achievements can now be earned through gameplay
Controller support
Native widescreen resolution support
Support for up to 5K monitors
Steam Cloud saves

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Huh, native widescreen support. I wonder if that is actually properly implemented? With all these ports turning up, I gather they still have the source code. How about fixing the fucking bugs/modern system compatibility? I would actually buy the Steam version if they did that.

One thing that seems immediately apparent, mod compatibility using Workshop is going to go right out the window. I'm not overly familiar with how it works, but judging by the info on Aspyr's page, it's basically a straight file install with no provision for merging 2DAs, editing GFFs, compiling scripts, or injecting files into ERFs like TSLPatcher can do.

Sounds nice tbh i never actually finished it back in the day, mostly cause a lot of people told me how shitty and butchered the original ending is and that discouraged me, i didn't follow the restoration mods but it was kinda on my to play list for a long time maybe now is good time to replay and finish it.

Finished the second once before. Not rushing with restored content as i bet it's going to be dissappointing anyway. Bet the restored content feels incomplete with fan made additions which is subpar. I'll try it out at some point though,

Isn't it the same with Skyrim, i highly doubt it makes bashed patches and stuff.. The workshop is absolutely worthless for any serious modding..

Nice surprise with the WS support Smile

Finally some love for the glorious Kotor 2. I'm surprised that it's a free update and not a Remastered HD+ version sold at €9.99, maybe there's still some sanity around! Very Happy Laughing

You'd bet and loose, badly. Only the standalone M4-78 project has fan content, there was almost no trace of the plot in the files.
Restored Content Mod is, well, pure restoration (with original voiceovers) . Some stuff received minor tweaks (as it was left unfinished or was inconsistent), but overall it sticks to source material.

And it is pretty fucking terrible. It's a poster child example of why most modders shouldn't give up their day jobs.

I had no former experience with the Workshop, so wasn't sure how it worked. It boggles the mind that they launched a mod-specific service without provision for the most fundamental aspect of modding, inter-mod compatibility.

M4-78 is not included and was always optional. But i agree: that mod is not in the best state (part because there was not much to work with, part because the people that worked on it weren't exactly 3D modellers, graphic artists and so on). Still, appreciate the atempt.

Meanwhile, i'm watching the K1R Restoration Mod for the original KOTOR, which is now released and ready for the public. It still needs some patching, but the most part is done (with only bug squashing left).

K1R doesn't inspire me with a lot of confidence either, from what I have heard about it. Sounds like the same problem as M4-78, stuff that was cut early for valid reasons with few leftovers remaining in the files, resulting in people that can't write or design coming up with a bunch of unnecessary filler content that is at best tedious, at worst terrible.

The scope of K1R was reduced a long time ago. Only the stuff that could be actually used was included, with some bug fixing added. No more extra stuff, unless is already there and can fit the released story.

Newest enhanced and streamlined version of M4-78 is not horrible, but again, there was not much left to work with, even the main plot was mostly guesswork.

What I'd love to see is the GenoHaraadan quest. Restoration didn't touch this because like with the droid planet there was also almost nothing left, but there is a (very slow going) project to mod it in.

You can however seriosly try Restored Content mod, thanks to original voiceovers it integrates itself seamlessly. If you don't know the game by heart you will not even notice it, but the game will be much richer (and in some places make more sense).

Kotor 1 project is very basic because unlike Kotor 2 it shipped with no cut content on disc.

the only thing that was noticeably fan doctored in the restored content mod for me was the droid factory bit.

it was short, very sparsely detailed and not balanced that well. the rest was unnoticeable.

I think that"s really the key point. K1 had actual cut content, that Bioware decided wasn't up to scratch/necessary/whatever. K2, on the other hand, had a ton of content that was simply unfinished rather than deliberately cut, and the game has all sorts of issues without it.

Edit: GMG currently have a K2 Steam key for €4.00 using the code ENCORE-ENCORE-ENCORE

Didn't read but the title, but if it's true I hope it'll be both KotoR 1 and 2.

So they'll probably port the game to Frostbite instead of making a Kotor 3
Good idea considering BiowarEA would surely ruin it and not sure about Obisidan either.

That's just a first step towards making a proper Kotor 3 game!
