God Ubisoft is so fucking stupid sometimes / all of the time. Why would you cancel the beta then proceed to not even give a reason for it? Why would it take a few weeks to conjure up a reason? Could have just said the game is not ready or whatever.
Still really upset this game has no MP. I enjoy the SP of the Anno games, but I have the most fun playing them with friends. Without MP it's pretty much a no sale for me and my friend. Considering we have thousands of hours logged in dawn of discovery that's a pretty big deal. They are likely loosing a lot of sales.
I also find their excuse laughable in the interviews about there being no MP. How they just want to focus on 'SP only' to deliver 'better content'.

A basic MP/Coop mode like in 1404 is all people want, and considering the SP should have an open 'skirmish' mode anyways for comp stomps it makes no sense not adding in MP, or how that would require much additional resources considering the game uses the same engine so the netcode can't be that different. They also say the MP isn't a big deal since the games require days of people playing together.. No shit Sherlock. It's not the type of game for random pickups, it's the type of game two close friends buy and play together.
We have fun just comp stomping, even with how shitty the computer always is. There is something very pleasing about settling all the different islands and building up that massive trade network, and doing it with a friend.
Very very stupid not putting MP; I'll say it again, it will cost them a lot of sales.
It's AAA priced and have season pass. The one positive that comes with that is maybe Ubisoft are more committed business-wise into this game than Heroes VII. Which could mean the devs were supported a lot better. So please don't suck; there's a lot of innovative stuff in this iteration and that's always risky.
So I am thinking about preordering this from Nuuvem since the Gold edition is $39. Is there any concern to preorder from Nuuvem and that it's a uPlay title? It doesn't look Region Locked from what I can tell.

Not region locked so you are fine to go ahead and buy it.
Only once were they a bit late on pre-order keys but that was fixed rather fast. For all the other times they were handing them out a day or two before release and no problems.
