What why are they doing this? (I just saw this thread)
With:
TF2
Monday night combat
Super monday night combat
Loadout
etc etc
That all kinda faded to nothing trying to be TF2.
Why another generic arena like combat game as the first 'brand new' thing they premiere in a long time?
Its like "well we saturated the dota/moba genre frenzy, lets make something else there is a lot of failures in copying"

Because they got a shitton of unused assets from the failed game Titan, and they thought recycling those into another game would be a good idea.
They can also fit the cartoon crap game very well with their recent lineup of "social" and "friendly" games I guess, which basically means cut any chat or grouping feature that would normally be in the game but has the potential to harm your senses by harrassment. It's going to be a therapy game.
They've come a LONG way from the real ID scandal and being a serious developer for sure. We'll hear from more ActiBlizz mobile and casual games very soon, we can be certain of that.
lol at the giant arm in your face when you play the gorilla. It's like they are intentionally trying to make the least playable FPS. Tiny fov, huge weapons, random monkey arms, visual clutter all over the place, and basically no sound feedback at all. This game is a mess
I usually try all the multiplayer shooters at least once out of curiosity, but somehow my interest bar is giving me negative numbers with this one. Even if I could tolerate the style (which I don't like, as always with Blizzard), such type of grindy/generic gameplay would give me the definitive coup de grace *quietly backs away*
Pretty much every character looks terrible, but that LĂșcio design
And to think this company used to create almost magical assets for ancient Warcraft 3.

I for one think the character design in this game is amazing. But ok...
Signed up for this bullshit game, pretty sure I won't get invited though. Haven't been invited to a Blizzard beta since Vanilla WoW..
My last successful Blizzard beta was Warcraft 3. They sent me a physical disk + NDA.
I remember I wanted into the Diablo 2 beta so bad - they shafted me. Still haven't forgiven them for that.

Not sure about this. It looks Team Fortress 2'ish yes. Maybe its fun, won't know until we try it with two teams of players who know how to play, really. I guess they're hoping its going to turn into an esport like LoL and CS.
The best way I can sum this game up is the following: it's an FPS built on the logic of Mobas. From what I've seen this is less about twitch and shooting skills, more about positioning, timing, and skill use sync - like mobas.
I think this and TF2 are very different beasts. I enjoy TF2 immensely, because it is a shooter. Imagine TF2 with loads slower movement, impact of bullets being only as strong as auto attack on a moba hero, and having skills with cooldowns, that are the damage dealers/CC. Yeah, not TF2 at all, anymore.
Do I think this has a place in the market? Yes, it has. But it still seems boring to me, tbh.
Yes, you're right about the moba comparison. I think that's definitely what they're going for with this game.
Simple gameplay. Straight forward objectives. Eccentric and special looking characters appealing to everyone including women and kids. Light-weight stylized graphics to allow more people's computers to run the game.
Also, important factor for me in a shooter: I like to fucking dominate, simple as that. In TF2 as a scout, I can easily initiate 1v3-4, and still kill off that medic, and get away with my life, dominate pick-ups, go in, come back, and finish all 3-4. I charge in on medic+heavy combos all the time, and come out on top. Because in a shooter it's all about your movement+aim+fast as lightning decision making.
In Overwatch, the way it seems to me thus far, everything will take a team effort and coordinated skills. Which is great, for people who like that. But I think shooters should be about shooting.
Overwatch closed beta starts today. Chances are virtually nil but thats a TF2 game thats looking pretty damn fun. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Guess we'll restricted to watching the numpties on twitch for now playing.
Nice mix of play styles in there, some are a bit wtf weak in my opinion. Looks fun. You guys been following?

Yep, no doubt all streamers get beta access.. Maybe I should just try and contact Blizzard for a key, just say I'm a small time streamer and yt channel and who knows haha

I got interested when I saw the little dwarf dude and how much he resembles the TF2 engineer, building/upgrading his turret. If I get in I'll definitely try that guy out.
Will an install button be added to the launcher if I get in? I can't be assed to f5 the webpage.

I got in LOTV beta, and back then, an install button didn't appear, had to install through command.
So, no, it's not a safe bet. Just press one F5 tomorrow, and you'll know then.
The chances of getting in is pretty slim, but according to Blizz it's random based on many parameters. Some argue you have a better chance getting in with an older setup (Bnet app actually sends PC info).
