Once I got to Skellige and found other diagrams, I realized that I missed some of them, so started searching and brewing and whatnot and I think I spent a lot of hours and close to 10k crowns to update my inventory and I still need stuff like Ekimara hide, which I read it's quite rare.
Boy this game is complex. |
If you think alchemy is complex on this one, you haven't played the first one. Am i right?

Oh i did, my affirmation was towards the entire game, not just alchemy. Alchemy is relatively easy, if you have the ingredients.

Good to see people are still praising this game! Me, I am waiting for the Enhanced / Complete Edition. Learned my lesson with W1, W2 and all these fixing / breaking patches that are coming in from CD Red.
Also I think I am the only geezer around here being nostalgic about that dark, special, east-european, fairytale with strigga atmosphere from Witcher 1. Too bad I don't have that in Witcher 3, colorful edition.

Witcher 3 has killer atmosphere. Atmospheres in games has always been amplified by the real world experiences, but this time it was the other wa around for me. Every time I travel through Polish countryside I see it a little different than before.

/sigh
I don't see/feel it, to be honest (that grim W1 atmosphere)...
Maybe later in Skellige? But I doubt it. It MIGHT be great and different for most, but for me it lacks that dark, somber air.

Color palette is indeed quite unique to W1 only, W2 and W3 for most of the time don't have that "dark, somber air" around them, or only in certain places.
But W3 still has excellent feels to it. The music and dialogues still set the mood quite well for the world you're used to, I recommend the extreme weather mod to get storms and clouds for ~80% of the time. Game looks and feels strikingly better if you explore White Orchard and Velen if they have a "rainy climate".

The grim atmosphere of Witcher 1 is indeed gone.
But strangely, I didn't notice it was missing until you mentioned it. I'm usually picky regarding these things (I'm one of the people that think GTA5 is missing a spark of humanity that GTA4 had), so I guess this speaks for the game's quality.

This Extreme Weather Conditions mod manages to remove in some cases that overly colored/saturated atmosphere. Hopefully that rain and those thunders won't become tiresome.
Thanks for pointing the mod out! Will probably give it a spin once the next patch is in. Still, as far as I am concerned, the world's general feel simply cannot be altered (via mods or SweetFX presets) to the point where it mimics the one from W1. Nor it should, for most of the people, afaik...

Almost completely bugfree experience so far (only bug was some NPC not dying, but the quest itself didn't fail. And it was not the werewolf ) |
I haven't installed any DLC and have roughly 60hrs in game so far, no bugs to speak of.
Edit:
I take that back.. Sometimes when I jump off the horse and am on solid ground, it makes a splash sound like water. It's really weird. hehehe.

It's because you're using an axe. Witcher doesn't use axe!
