they dont see the difference because THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE with star citizen!
Its not about whats already build.
Its about what they are going to create. That should be clear.
And yes.. if the things, they want to create, are far more complex then other games, then they will need more time, more developers and much more money compared to a game that is rather simple in terms of content and technical features.
Or do you really want to say, that base concept of ED is as complex in terms of features and as big (in terms of content) as SC-concept?
Again.. its nothing about "fanboy"... this is about facts.
If the concept is working at the end and if there will be a "good" game at the end.. this is something completly different. My question is only about the concept, about the amount of work they have to do.
I'm not saying sabin and company does not have valid points. But as much as you ridicule the fanboys, you are the EXACT same people only on the opposite side. Blindly pissing and laughing at EVERYTHING they do. I'll give you that the fanboys "started" it, but you guys are equally pathetic.
As a cynical and bitter person I can relate and I love to hate, especially on this forum, but this is some next level shit.

Wow. Needs some polish, but say what you want, this feels like wing commander. And if released, looks like a serious candidate to blow everything out of the water. A proper WC with interiors on par with alien isolation..?

what impact does having a small play-area like that be explorable in first-person do for daily gameplay? do I want to go down into that hub every time to speak to an NPC or what?
But to take on your example, I think it's not the case of the audience thinking they can do better, it's the case of the audience actually seeing other teams playing the same game doing better and with less mistakes, getting better results with a smaller budget.
But its seems they dont see, that the game, that they already can play, is by far not as big and not even as complicated (in terms of feature, technic and content) as the other game that is still in development...
The question is.. why dont they this this difference? The anwser is: Because they miss the basic technical knowledge..
And i think this is the major problem...
Yes you can compare those two games but you should at least try to understand the basic technical background to do so. Thats my opionion.
The only 'features' Star Citizen has over Elite are the overly complicated physics system, and the fact that you are controlling your person, not just a ship. (Although I suspect in a few years Elite will allow you to walk around anyways..) This will allow for more advanced things then Elite is currently capable of offering, but given the limits of the Cryengine all the fairy tale promises like 100+ player battles w/ ship boarding are impossible.
They've both had the same development time, (Remember, Star Citizen was being developed a full year before the Kickstarter/Reveal.) yet one has had SUBSTANTIALLY less funding and at least has a playable game out.
This is again why I point out that with the same amount of funding/manpower as RSI has Frontier would have likely already released something on-par with what SC is conceptually. SC has numerous managerial issues from all facits of the business. Be it wasting money (Opening a second studio in Santa Monica when Austin is a substantially cheaper city.), or poor technical decisions such as using the Cryengine.

How can they build it when they have completely fallen behind on the development schedule and have already burned through a substantial amount of the money raised?
What happens when they run out of people to continue selling new ships to?
Their entire business model now relies on pumping out new ship concepts and selling it like a long order on a stock.
Shame I can't trade $RSI like a stock and start shorting it, being a betting man I bet i'd make a fortune in a couple quarters. Except unlike a stock $RSI does not have a book value and all your 'shares' (ships) will be worthless.
It be clever if I was whining on that, but I'm not...
Some things just don't translate well to the gaming world, this is one of those. They can come back with mechanics like that if I can control the entire body movement until then: put it in the bin.

Bingo, and have fun with the loading screens.
The impact of choice, young padwan. The game gives you that choice.
Wanna keep on your ships room drinking beer? Fine. Just dont understand that need to criticize the rest whose choice was to go downtown for a pool game and shot of whisky with cap. jeanette Devereux.

I'd just call the dude on the phone. They have those in the future. Futuristic ones. That way you don't have to go see his face personally.
Fair enough, but..
Spoiler:
You do understand that albeit you can have phone sex, that doesn't substitute the real thing, right? On the same level clicking on the button "have a vodka shot" on your smart phone, doesn't get you drunk.

I don't know if I should laugh or feel sad for the people spending hundreds on virtual items
And I'll bet you that some of those people probably saw others spending them in P2W/freeplay games and laughed, then rushed to buy that as soon as it was out.

Damn, even if you were a dolt and bought into this virtual goods bullshit, you couldn't even do anything with it until/if they decide to let you. This is simply to give them more money.

If they spent half the time they have spent developing bullshit like this into actually making a fucking game, they might have something to show for it.
well thank god i never was hyped about this. played some freelancer back in the day with friends and this was the only space "sim" that i ever liked.
this looks like a huge pos coded by idiots with a nice marketing strategy. just ignore this, let people buy over priced nothing for real money... let them have fun with it and just ignore it.
look at this shit it's not even worth to talk about it.
