353.62

Almost forgot to post these.

Brief summary from GeForce.com
http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/windows-10-game-ready-nvidia-geforce-gtx-driver-released

Quote:

The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX Game Ready drivers for Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 are now available to download from GeForce Experience and GeForce.com. Featuring launch-day support for Windows 10, tweaks and optimizations for games running on other operating systems, and new SLI profiles, our latest Game Ready driver is a recommended update for all GeForce GTX gamers.

Game Ready For Windows 10

The GeForce Game Ready program delivers updated drivers for your favorite titles before their launch, ensuring the best possible experience the second you start playing. Today, we’re delivering Game Ready support for all games played on the newly-released Windows 10.

That means you can enjoy Dark Souls II at 4K with Dynamic Super Resolution, Witcher 3 with HairWorks and SLI, Battlefield Hardline with performance-enhancing Multi-Frame Sampled Anti-Aliasing, Grand Theft Auto V with TXAA Anti-Aliasing and PCSS shadows, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes with GameStream, and League of Legends with G-SYNC and ShadowPlay. If a feature is on our list, it’s supported under Windows 10 with the new Game Ready driver.

For gamers, Windows 10’s DirectX 12 is the focus of attention, enabling the creation of new, more advanced visual effects, and higher performance in DirectX 12-optimized games. With the Game Ready driver, Maxwell and Kepler GPUs offer complete support for DirectX 12. Fermi-based GPUs will gain support for DirectX 12 titles later this year, around the arrival of the first wave of DirectX 12 content. And of course, we’ll be ready and waiting with Game Ready drivers to add performance optimizations, SLI profiles, and much, much more.

For further details about GeForce GTX gaming on Windows 10 and DirectX 12 check out our Windows 10 launch article.

New SLI Profiles

Upgrade your rig with a second NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPU to activate SLI, the multi-GPU technology of choice for gamers. With intelligent scaling and industry-leading multi-GPU anti-stutter technology, NVIDIA SLI is the smoothest, most effective way of increasing frame rates by up to 2x.

In the new GeForce Game Ready drivers, the following SLI profiles have been introduced:

Batman: Arkham Knight - Added SLI profile (previously deployed via GeForce Experience)
Hai Zhaqn Shi Jie - Added SLI profile
Killing Floor 2 - Added SLI profile
Metro: Last Light - Updated SLI profile
Motocross - Added SLI profile
MotoGP 15 - Added SLI profile
Squadron 42: Star Citizen - Updated SLI profile
Total War: Arena - Updated SLI profile

GeForce Game Ready Driver: Download Now

You can download the new GeForce Game Ready drivers through GeForce Experience, our free, essential, game and system-enhancing application, or from the GeForce.com Drivers page.

If you experience any technical issues with the new Game Ready drivers, please post a detailed report on the GeForce.com Driver Feedback Forum where our Customer Care team can better assist you. Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8.1 issues should be reported here, and Windows 10 issues here.

Changes and Fixed Issues in Version 353.62
The following sections list the important changes and the most common issues resolved
in this version. This list is only a subset of the total number of changes made in this
driver version. The NVIDIA bug number is provided for reference.
WDDM Behavior with Mixed GPUs in Windows 10 with
Release 352
Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 2.0 is available starting with Windows
10. In Release 252, systems with any combination of Kepler and Maxwell GPUs use
WDDM 2.0, while systems with only Fermi GPUs use WDDM 1.3.
In systems that mix Fermi with Kepler and/or Maxwell GPUs, the WDDM version used
is determined by the GPU that POSTs first: WDDM 1.3 for Fermi, WDDM 2.0 otherwise.
GPUs that POST after the first GPU and that are not compatible with its WDDM version
will fail to load and show a yellow bang in Device Manager.
In a future driver release, systems that include Fermi GPUs will use WDDM 2.0 instead
of WDDM 1.3.
Windows 10 Fixed Issues
 [353.50] Cursor does not track the mouse correctly. [1663851]
Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 8.1 Fixed
Issues
 [352.86] Text Adjust video color settings is not capitalized in the NVIDIA Control
Panel like other sections. [1646926]
 [352.86] Sony Vegas Pro 13 rendering crashes with error fault in nvcuda.dll after
driver updated. [1647939]
 [352.86] Chrome browser causes the GPU to TDR after driver updated. [1647277]
 [353.23] There is a five second delay starting or switching tasks in apps and games
with G-sync enabled on both single and SLI configurations. [1655659]

Open Issues in Version 353.62 WHQL

GTX 780 Ti vs R9 290X; The Rematch

The hypothesis:

Quote:
After the GeForce product stack transitioned to Maxwell, several discussion threads popped up everywhere from NVIDIA’s own forums to Reddit claiming that driver optimizations for Kepler in newer games have become nearly nonexistent. This supposedly caused performance issues with nearly-new and very expensive GPUs in some key games. Imagine buying a GTX 780 Ti in July 2014 only to have its drivers hobbled from September 2014 (the GTX 980’s launch date) onwards. Two words for that: no thanks.

12 benchmarks later, the conclusion:

Quote:
As it stands, I couldn’t find any instance where the GTX 780 Ti exhibited debilitating performance problems. That includes newer games I’m currently playing that aren’t in the benchmarks like Trine 3 and the Call to Arms beta. All of the results were in line, if not better than expected given this card’s memory limitations and relative age.

780ti is not the only kepler card, nor is the 290x the only GCN card.

when you look at 670/680, which is also kepler, vs 7970, which was once between those two cards, the difference in performance in newer games vs games from around launch time of those card, is pretty big.

I don't think there's any driver crippling, but AMD GCN cards just aged better overall.

From Guru3D:

Nvidia Wanted Oxide dev DX12 benchmark to disable certain DX12 Features

Quote:
An interesting read was posted by a spokes person of Oxide, basically their DX12 benchmark of the Beta Ashes of the Singularity runs a notch better at specific AMD graphics cards. Is seems Nvidia is not supporting DX12 Asynchronous Compute/Shaders and actually asked the dev to disable it (content updated).

So the breaking story of the day obviously is the news that Nvidia tried to have certain features for the Oxide dev DX12 benchmark Ashes of Singularity disabled, the story continues though. The developer already posted a reply as how and what. Currently is seems that Nvidias Maxwell architecture (Series 900 cards) does not really support Asynchronous compute in DX12 at a proper hardware level.

In short, here's the thing, everybody expected NVIDIA Maxwell architecture to have full DX12 support, as it now turns out, that is not the case. AMD offers support on their Fury and Hawaii/Grenada/Tonga (GCN 1.2) architecture for DX12 asynchronous compute shaders. The rather startling news is that Nvidia's Maxwell architecture, and yeah that would be the entire 900 range does not support it in the way AMD does. I can think of numerous scenarios as to where asynchronous shaders would help.

...

Asynchronous shaders will deliver a performance increase up-to 46% in a demo shown with their LiquidVR-SDK dev kit. How big of a difference this is going to be for your 'normal' gaming experience, remains to be seen of course. But every little bump in perf is welcomed of course.

So what happened ?

NVIDIA wanted the Asynchronous Compute Shaders feature level disabled by the dev (Oxide) for their hardware as it ran worse. Even though the driver exposed it as being available. The theory right now is that NV does support it, albeit with very limited numbers

Async DX12 shader support is a uniform API level feature, part of DX12. It allows software to better distribute task intensive data. NVIDIA driver reports back that "Maxwell" GPUs supports the feature, however Oxide Games made a benchmark to showcase the power of DX 12 and ran into anomalies. When they enable async shader support the result for Maxwell based product was in their own words "unmitigated disaster". With communication back and forth with NVIDIA trying to fix things Xoide learned that "Maxwell" architecture really doesn't properly support async shaders at a tier 1 level, the NVIDIA driver might report it, but it apparently isn't working at a low-level hardware. At that stage NVIDIA started pressuring Oxide to remove parts of its code that use the feature altogether....

still adding more bullshit I see, taking over controls hmmm, will this be now possible for the controller on another pc somewhere to use cheats to aim and not be detected due to "sharing"...

in other news, next to the "omg drivers improved the colors", guru3d has a new fad.

"OMG intel management engine interface drivers prevent stuttering and increase FPS"

the classic guru3d, "i upgraded from 1.1044 to 1.1045 and my fps quadrupled" Aww Yeah

They are truly retarded over there. There are minor revisions that add SLI profiles and they are experiencing hitching or changes in performance..... oh god.
