The annoying part when I played it (online) was the huge lag spikes, whereas WRC3 didn't suffer from such problems. My connection isn't exactly reliable, though. Razz

@Madness: The game itself is good like Lola said. At least it properly simulates the discipline instead of proposing watered down hybrids like the Codies' games do. And has a physics engine, unlike said titles Cool Face

They've made improvements in this, but overall I prefer WRC3 to be honest.

One last queistion before I decide if I should grab it.

Does the AI do good times that need good driving to beat?

That's what I liked about dirt 3, despite the arcadeyness. the rally races took a while to beat the top AI time.

There's actually a slider for the AI as far as I remember. I never maxed it out though, because times were basically impossubru to beat, no matter the good efforts Razz Laughing

They'd better cancel it. They're not going anywhere with W_D driving model. Dirt Rally is the king right now. Yes, Codemasters...

Yeah, it feels so strange to say it, but that's the absolute truth. Who would have thought some months ago..

This new WRC is being developed by another company, their curriculum is something: http://www.kylotonngames.com/pages/games.php Laughing

(RIP upcoming Flatout 4 as well - not that the 3 actually happened anyway)

Haha yup, I managed to download everything out of curiosity (the one that killed the cat), and indeed the game is just very average as expected. With Dirt Rally around, this has no reason to exist. Razz

The new team basically created a clone of the previous WRCs in terms of handling and stage's design (arcade/consolish, but at least the tracks aren't autobahns), though with a considerably poorer feeling with the car because of the different engine, which is possibly even worse than the previous one (not an easy task). No classic cars either as far I can see, only WRC,WRC-2 and junior (for the target audience Cool Face)

After having tried them both (don't ask me why, I just blame curiosity) definitely go with Dirt 4. The new Codiegame is nowhere as good/rewarding as Dirt Rally but at least as a gaming package works and can dispense some entertainment - provided that you avoid the Gamer setting for toddlers. This WRC franchise with Kylotonn at the helm on the other hand is so incredibly cheap and lifeless, it's a complete waste of a proper license. It has all the official locations and cars, and that would be a huge plus considering the somewhat limited offer of the competitors out there, but the driving model is unbelievably simplified, all the roads are artificially wide and 100% flat with no bumps or disconnections, it's like driving a road roller in the Autobahn.

@Andrea: it really is, visually speaking also. The cockpit view is especially a dispenser of early 2000s feelings:
