As usual I took my time (months spent procrastinating) to finish the game. There is no doubt that as far as action games go, this GTA was an absolute blast to play. Unfortunately, the game also suffered from problems and limitations which curbed the crazy ride a bit, and that's a shame, but nothing that really tarnished the final experience.
First things first, the byzantine attention to details and graphics made this V for me the most immersive GTA when it comes to simply "being there". An amazing rendition of the city, its urban daily life, and the most polished/complete core gameplay in the whole franchise, with solid shooting and surprisingly great first person implementation, even though it required a serious l'oreal flawlesswidescreen rederpalift treatment in order to not simulate the sensation of playing from the couch munching doritos. The stock driving model felt too forgiving to me, but thankfully there are mods around that fix everything making it more realistic/GTA IV-like.
The porting job was a bloody good surprise (I was definitely not a believer ), with a consistent performance on my not-so-epic rig and incredibly detailed visuals, with some weeks spent cursing because Rockstar's baboons had messed up with the patches adding free stuttering - now (mostly) fixed thankfully.
As for the story, the three protagonists were a bizarre yet adorable bunch of dickwads, I liked their extremely half-assed chemistry. It's undeniable though that there were serious pacing issues both in the story and missions structure: what I missed was especially focus, with many secondary characters just coming and going, very few of them being truly remarkable/funny/charismatic (all aspects that for instance made Vice City and TBoGT unforgettable), and the lack of a believable "arch-enemy" didn't help either to create tension and tighter atmosphere. At some point I just wished Michael's family would simply get eaten by a shark, same for their 'missions', except perhaps for when it came to embarrassing the poor Lazlow. All the ghetto characters and underground world felt "stereotyped" as well, in a bad way that didn't come off as interesting. Yo-yo niiga and that's it, with no depth and very 'basic' writing sadly, though that was the whole game's common thread so to speak.
The side businesses were alright, albeit with too many trophy hunting/collecting for my tastes (therefore I avoided them), and definitely would have not hurt to have even more single player alternative crazy activities to do - with better AI - considering the amazing, living world at our disposal.
The glorious heists on the other hand , especially the last one..the only problem was, they were too few and far between. I so wanted more heists and missions for adrenaline junkies and was not fully satisfied, damn you Rockstar for being such a cocktease. Anyway, despite some structural flaws and limitations, it was a superb experience (I would rate it a rock-solid 8+/10) and I'll most likely replay the interesting missions again in first person with thousands of mods in the future, that's for sure..if Rockstar doesn't ban me first!

Well, there are 2 options for each heist, with some of them being drastically different. So there is more to do (if you didn't play them again already)!

And that's just a few months after the release, it took ages (read, actually more than 2-4 years in IV to get where V already is. We already have:
- Car replacements (full) (LOVE https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/1970-dodge-challenger-rt-440-six-pack-aige )
- Texture Changes
- Model replacements (partial, guns etc.)
- Script Mods (MP Garages in MP, unrestricted Camera mode, vehicle functions, LSPDFR, partial Iron Man mod with model, ...)
- Map model imports (Stunts, revamped area looks by adding trees, ramps, jumps, Statues)
And that even though C* is working against Modders.
but thats cause the file structure is similar to iv and the engine is still based on the same basics (though its "just" a straight further development of the rage engine used in iv). the old tools for iv could be modified for v and not written completely from the ground
Does anyone know where I can find a longer version of the song that plays from 26:23-26: 45? I remember hearing it during the Bugstars mission but the above track plays a high tempo version which isn't the one I want.
@Interinactive A few of them do, others do support them randomly. You guys are just wayyy negative, but then again it's the hump

(Proper) Animations are still a tad a way though. It's 4-5 months after the game released, I expect things to pick up properly given a bit more time. You're expecting a lot, no surprise you're "disappointed" in some way.
Good car models have been released only a few days ago and even those are not purely perfect in every aspect (some interiors, dull and low q) and guns, eh, GTA IV didn't even have attachments, it's a new game feature, of course nothing straight out supports it. But I've been using some weeks ago and they worked fine with attachments even though they didn't mean to.
Working gauges? You serious? I can understand the steering wheel thing, but that's pretty high standards bro They're Modders, they don't work for R*, as if it was a matter of minutes including a working gauge...
No thanks, if you start giving me shit for no reason along things I didn't even say, nope.jpeg I'm not responsible if you can't read properly and figure simple things like that "replacements" (didn't see that, did you?) are not full blown detailed out cars.
And you know there are Speedometers from Trainers and shit, rite? Jeeez you get salty very quickly, bad day at work or what?
or as usual: make complete backups of your system ssd once in a while
just got a heartattack after reading that, cause havent backed up that either. then i reminded that i took a full backup before upgrading to 10 and then i googled the location of the saves and laughed
I always backup my USERS folder, since moron game developers like sticking save games all over the damned place... some in My Games, some in My Docs, some in Appdata\Local, some in Appdata\Roaming. Irritating shit.
Were there any recent updates regarding VR to this game? The only thing I can remember was some months back where is was basically possible to play on Oculus, but not really good and made you nauseous quite fast.
