OK, sorry for starting a new thread, but this is just to make it clear for everyone. The other topics are flooded by spam and crap, and this 1 has to remain CLEAN AND ONTOPIC ONLY!
OK, so there are various ways to play SF protected games.
Starforce <3.5:
- Mount cd/dvd with DT4 and disable cd with SF Nightmare
Starforce 3.6>:
- Mount cd/dvd with DT4 and unplug your CD/DVD drives
- If you have an ATA controller, on which you have connected your cd/dvd, you can just disable it in Hardware Manager. Mount cd/dvd with DT4 and everything works flawless.
Compatible ATA controllers:

If you have discovered any other ways, post them in this topics and I will add them to this startpost.
DO NOT POST CRAP OR OFFTOPIC STUFF HERE

You dont need to disable node at all. DT4 is not blacklisted yet
You only need to "Disable CD" thats it

I play Starforce 3.6+ with DT4 without running any sf-tools or disconnecting my dvdburner etc.
Works like I've got the original.

I installed TMS with Daemon Tools without any Emulationoptions.
Then i opened SFNightmare and clicked "Disable CD". I try to start TMS by clicking on the icon but it asks for the cd. I have the TMS_patched version by mirror.
Hope someone can help me^^

'Disable CD' wasn't enough to get TMS running for me either. I have to then click 'disable ch2'
(IDE dvd drive is channel 2). The game will now start. WARNING: Reversing this order, e.g clicking 'disable ch2' followed by 'Disable CD' crashes windows. Also note that anything else on the same channel (ch2) will no longer be accessible.
Alternatively, I can just click 'sc.Slave off' which is the location of my IDE dvd drive (Slave on secondary IDE lead).
Remember to undo any of the above changes by clicking the opposite settings when your finished playing.

when i disable ch2 then i get the message, that there is a read error while checking the disc.
I should check whether the CD is inserted or it has no physical damage.

Try 'sc.Master off'' or 'sc.Slave off', whichever is your cd drive. Also I have never installed alcohol 120% or any other starforce game on this system.

My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
Depending on if you have the Nvida IDE Controller installed or not, you may see something like ''NVIDIA nForce2 ATA Controller,' if so, look in it's properties for the location of your cd drive. Windows default controller will be shown as two seperate channel, check the properties of each, to find out if your drive is master or slave.

I used an ATA controller with Silicon image chipset.
I don'T even have to disable it, it works just fine directly, even with new Starforce releases (UFO Aftershock).
So my advice is:
- get an extra IDE controller that is compatible with ATAPI drives
- plug all your optical drives in there
- launch the image via daemon tools v4
The best thing is: you don't need to disable anything! You ONLY need daemon tools v4, that's it. No channel disabling, no cable disconnecting.
I recommend an ATA133 raid controller using SI0680A because it will still have some potential use if there's another method around Starforce. Plus those babys are just 20€ shipped.

They are cheap everywhere and it really is the best solution I've seen so far.

Yes, I only have my 3 IDE drives in there and everything works perfectly. The idea is to hide the optical IDE drives from Starforce and apparently it only checks the four main channels. Maybe they'll start blacklisting ATA controllers now but that might be an endless battle.
Of course you CAN also plug in your HDDs but its by no means necessary. If you can find an old controllers that supports optical drives I'm sure that will work as well.
I just was sick of waiting for a proper solution so I figured spending 20 bucks once is not a big deal.

Yes well have you tried to burn a cd/dvd? Coz I have a Promise Ultra 133 TX2 and my burner is flipping when I try to burn a cd/dvd, if it's connected through the controller.

Good point, my controller is very new so I hadn't tried it yet.
Well I just did and it worked flawless, burned an image at 8x without issues. I'll keep an eye on it but if the controller supports ATAPI it should have no problem with burners.

I can now confirm that the 2 nastiest SF games I know also work with simple DT4 mounting with this method:
Peter_Jacksons_King_Kong_SFCloneCD_INCL_PATCHTOOL-MiRROR using SF 3.6 and
Trackmania Sunrise with the patch and expansion.

While I was browsing for the older BIOS version for the SiL controller I also found a topic where were a full listing of PCI IDE controllers that work well with StarForce but silly me didn't save the link.
I will try to find it again and if I have it I'll post it here as well. All I can remember that there were 2 brands listed and that all SiliconImage modells worked.

Hello all.
I'm having problems running Silent Hunter 3 copy made by alcohol. The copy was made with DPM set on normal. I unpluged the IDE drives and I can't get it to work with DT 4:[. Starforce says the key is not correct. USB trick does nothing :/. Is there any solution to get it work ? I want to keep my original DVD in safe place :[. My DVD burner is LG4163B with A105 bios.
