Hahaha That accent (racist) part with the android was funny I'm growing to like this show.

SG-1 is one of my all time favourite series. If the humor is like in SG-1, then it's absolutely worth trying! But i'm sure it's going to turn into something like that shit show Helix.
So far it is not as good as SG1 but it has the same vibe, definatly, i think it might get better with time..stargate had pretty low budget also, but this is 2015.. so theres that.
I'm enjoying it too, despite terrible production values. Wish they gave them more money for set/prop design at least. It's not a very deep or complex show but definitely fun for those who grew up on Star Trek and Stargate.
I don't know whether I like it or not after three eps. It has the syfy budget feel, the characters are written by a donkey (so predictable) and the CGI is alright at best. It is enjoyable though. As for Stargate comparison, SG1 had a lot more character and uniqueness. I'll keep watching though, since even shitty scifi is good enough these days
Keep watching this due to lack of better, but somehow I just can't get over the cheap feel of this show. The actors are very bad and lacking everything that makes other actors great.. The whole story is completely over the place and even at the end of S1 it still doesn't make any sense (nor gives it the feeling of knowing the whole story, as incentive to keep watching S2)..
Though the writer already have 5 seasons planned out.. But still, if it doesn't pick up pace it will end before that number is reached..

The final scene of the season finale was epic - pretty much what I think of in my head when I envision ship boarding (what I had hoped SC would have been ) And that music....

Decent season overall, the basic concept is good and the quality of the episodes have increased since the first few ones, though the penultimate episode was better than the last one which suffered from some pacing issues.
However, felt that the finale ended in a very poor fashion; a very cheap way to end it if you compare it with the Defiance season finale, which can also serve as a series finale if that show is cancelled.
It was good in the end. Nothing ground breaking or innovative, but it was fun to watch. They have a good thing to build upon in season 2, hopefully they won't screw it up. They need better writers though.
The actress playing the android was perfectly cast.
I think the strongest thing Dark Matter has going for it (and what those other shows in large part lack) is the crew dynamic. Sure, it may be cliche in terms of that its been used before, but at least I give a shit about what happens to the crew.
There's not a single character on Defiance that I give a damned about - Stahma and Datak are just forever going to be backstabbing cunts, Nolan is a gruff war-hero without a shred of personality beyond that, Irisa is just annoying, and Amanda is just there for her tits (a pretty face to look at if you will). Personally, I find it incredibly difficult to give a damned about what happens to any of them - they're just not likable.
Kill Joy's characters are understandably cold, what with being relegated to a life of bounty-hunting. Seeing as how there are only three main characters (really two if you get right down to it), it's going to be much harder to develop into something meaningful and interesting. Still love the show though.
Dark Matter on the other hand has the closest thing going to a Firefly vibe that I've seen in a while - sure it's a little rough around the edges, but given time I think they can really sculpt it into something special.

Final thoughts, after 1 season and half episode:
it's not bad, it's not good either.
Pros and Cons, to read 1 vs. 1:
Pros:
- it has some good ideas
- it's familiar with other series concepts (terms, objects etc.)
- the female captain/shapeshifter/Idon'tknowwhat is HAWT
- some situations are nice, with nice dialogues
- cgi is in general decent
Cons:
- ... but all the rest feel unoriginal and/or not well spent
- ... but it doesn't add up anything to stuff all already seen in those series
- ... but I can't base all these spent hours on a good looking actress
- ... and the rest is a tad above general mediocrity
- ... other than that I don't see an actual effort to let the series do a step towards an actual future, full of stuff and gadget. I actually see cheap furnitures and objects all around
Ultimately: I see some kind of effort to reach some "Firefly" kind of balance, but result is not really good. This is supposed to be a story based on a disfunctional kind of family, and the result is quite poor: people don't fit, don't challenge each other.
Nothing of what you are shown actually challenge your mind or imagination.
I will still give it a chance, but patience is not infinite.
Killjoys had much better opening episode. This was just meh.

These bastards should stick to one or two story threads and build on that. They don't have the writing prowess or the budget to handle multiple stories at once

It's sad when sci-fi shows from 20 years ago had better scripts, special effects and set design.
The only reason I greedily consume this is because it inhabits a niche I like, the good old vibes are there in a way.
But if we would have the year 2002 now this show wouldn't stand a chance, against Stargate, Star Trek, or Firefly.
Killjoys is also stupid and somewhat disappointing, but on a slightly different level.
Guess Expanse is our only hope.
