first two were pretty childish. 3rd one wasn't, and 4th one is the first to be rated pg-13.

I use to think like most of you but then one day i got bored and started to read the first book (my little brother bought it a couple of months before that). It was indeed pretty childish but it has some good parts too. The second one was better but still written for kids, but from the 3rd one on, it just gets darker and darker, more violence, more plot twists, the kid is tormented between good and evil. Just like the books the first 2 movies were pretty average and I didn't watch them in the theather, or even downloaded them, but saw them on TV. The third one i downloaded and was pretty good, and now i really want to see what they did of the 4th one.
I'd say if you don't mind reading books, try them, i'm sure some of you who hate it might like it after all...
