This is a 50h-70h game for a normal playthrough GP Force, that's more than jade empire and kotor combined.
And you can bet your ass that in a 50h+ adventure (100h+ if you want do everything) there will be a CRAPLOAD of npc's to speak with.
There are lots of towns and various places to visit, and all of the towns are filled with npc's. So it would just not be possible to even come close to fitting it on a dvd5/9 disc.
Maybe you never played a console-rpg?
I have already played for about 21h, and I only just got the boat. So my playthrough will problary be way past 50h. I love exploring, it's just so much fun. |
Um if you're planning to take evrything in KOTOR your playtime will be around 60-70 hours, trust me I know...
Btw tiny? That's open for debatte how you measure worlds... Want something big? Then play morrowind for pc/xbox.
Um bioware rpg's are BIG...
I wouldn't call kotor/jade empire tiny rpg's..but hey you wouldn't know
Maybe you never played a console-rpg?
What kinda remark is that? Of course I've played console rpg's before, ever since the days of NES. I never played any DQ game before though, but jade empire/kotor are both big rpg's, depends on how you look at it..
Tiny? Please at least play/explore the games before you review. If you wan't a horrible rpg I suggest you play "fable".

Morrowind Game of the year - worlds largest RPG, filled with voices, size: less then 800/900mb.... Granted it's not a full blown dialogue either... then again piss poor games like FFX, and X-2 should learn how to use real voice actors, and skip some cheesy ass talk
Im a fan of FF, but not that crap we've been seeing for the ps2...
Oh a small note, audio doesn't have to mean lossles/losseless formats, you can go with ogg, as some games have done in the past... Or heavy compression...
If you want good voice acted games stick with bioware (interplay).
I don't mind text based rpg's at all..
@pellebrun I don't discuss rpg's with sony whore's... so if you're gonna use remarks like "Maybe you never played a console-rpg?" im out of this discussion or talk about games you've never played before...
News Flash: NES/SNES/PSX/XBOX = CONSOLE
Edit: Ignore my gramar, im sitting on a bad ass flu :/

Full voice ussually leads to less text, condensed story, and of course poor acting.
Screw full voice acting, screw most voice acting in general, it should be used at the right time, planescape: T comes to mind. When the voices came on in that game it was intense, and the acting was spot on because they werent forcing out 1000's of lines, just a few classic ones.
If you dont like to read text you shouldnt play RPG's, its equivalent to reading a book (assuming its a respectable rpg that relies on a *gasp* storyline) and it should stay in text. I myself never had any problems reading text. I knew that video games would sway this way eventually, with advancing technology. People get too used to voices in all their games, and become spoiled...suddenly it turns into a negative aspect for a game to use all or mostly text, when it should never be viewed as such.
No, I dont want watered down RPG's. I'll stick to the games that rely on massive amounts of text to convey their message, because that always works a hell of alot better then the games that attempt full voice overs and cut corners to achieve it.

If you look again at my post you can see that I wrote "tiny" and not tiny. "tiny" means that it's not really tiny, but in comparison to a game like dq8 those games become tiny. And this is not my opinion, this is a fact.
I'm basing this on different things. For example, the world, which is ALOT bigger then kotors world. And I know this since I have played and completed KOTOR, so I'm sorry to say this, but I do know.
But the number one thing is the number of npc's and the amount of text, it's just no comparison, dq8 or basicly any big console-rpg have ALOT more npc's than a game like KOTOR, and that's why you cant fit this or any big console-rpg on a dvd5 or dvd9 with full speech, it's just not possible.

It was a question because it sounded like you never had, since you for some strange reason thought this would fit on a dvd5/dvd9 with full speech (or any other big console-rpg), when it's already filling a full dvd5 without full speech.......
I'm sorry if I was wrong, but the way you said it implied that you had no clue what you were talking about.
And dont call me a sony fanboy, I'm sick of defending myself from such lame and pathethic comments. I have stated MANY times that I'm not a fanboy of any platform, and my posts show this over and over again so you shuld know this by now. :/
I'm with D4rkKnight btw, screw full speech. I actually even put on subtitles in games that support it.
Less speech = more game, and I prefear more game before speech.
Edit: Here's an example of how damn huge this game is, only for you GP Force.
I made a black border around the first part of the game, this very tiny part of the whole world-map takes AGES to walk through, and it's not me just saying that, it really does.
You would problary not even have the patience to walk by foot over that whole part.
And you can walk basicly everywhere on the whole map, except of course on mountains. Water works when you have accuired the boat.
And that tiny island called "princess minnies castle" is about the same area size as a town in morrowind, seriously.

I think leveling up is the coolest part :/ character development is the essence of a RPG imo. But this game keeps freezeing on my. Thats very annoying. I have a old magic chip, so some games works and other freezes. But I've played 16 hours with 5 freezes so far.. Its annoying to play stuff over though.
Do any of you have the same problem? Is there a workaround, or do I just have to live with it? It's random load freezes with some games. Like Kingdom Hearts is unplayable.
Oh, and yeah. I know all about burning with different speed/media and so on.
...aaahhg.. I hate my magic chip

messiah is the best of all, its one of the oldest but still most reliable, screw all these new fag chips with all kinds of nifty functions except for being able to run games well.
