@Nui, yes they do. Initially I read it in the manual and I was sceptical about it but this is really in the game. It's really strange some find the game very easy. Maybe I'm not so good but the enemies deploy new ways and equipment according to my approach.

People don't realize they play on normal for the first run through Seeing as they wear helmets now after I headshotted like over 100 people everywhere makes it a bit harder, full body armours are also a challenge to take down non-lethally.
I found the vehicle unit side-ops to be very interesting as well, they have good scouts and placements, and require to plan your approach.
I do however agree with special points like:
- can't drop the AR to go Pistol or Pistol and Sniper Rifle only
- can't use the Helicopter to change to a different landing zone like on Motherbase out in the battlefield
- unskippable cutscene opening for getting dropped by the Helicopter, possible spoilers by opening credits (i usually ignore and look away from)
- sometimes annoying voiceovers, Kaz questioning the Boss' decisions, Quiet's humming
It's nothing major at all, just litte things that would make the game a lot better than it already is. I'd like to know something better than this in terms of stealth aspects. And no, there's probably no non-flawed title out there you could mention. And sorry, if you mention Splinter Cell you're also missing the point (I like that series too, especially the old ones, but that's incomparable, MGS could be harder as well seeing how far you've advanced in it).

It seems you're forced to take both a primary and secondary weapon (obviously you don't have to use them, but they also waste GMP). Also is there any way to turn up the difficulty when it comes to how deadly enemies are? One thing I hate is how much damage Snake can survive. |
later on you get 'subsistence' versions of missions which have all gear on site procurement, so you start with nothing, no buddy, no vehicle, no support, no reflex.
there's also other ones which are just extra hard, or instant failure on getting spotted (no reflex)
not sure how many of these are there or if you can at some point decide this yourself, but there's something at least. |
Ah, good to know it will show up eventually.
And for you guys talking about enemy adaptability, you can send your guys on combat ops to sabotage the enemy upgrades. For instance if they blow up a box of flashlights most of the enemies are stuck using some crappy dim yellow light instead of the bright one.

I don't like what I'm hearing about Big Boss being a Gordon Freeman. A few audio tapes here and there are good but to entirely shift BB's dialogue there seems like a foolish move
1 and 2 are still amazing.

@Janz NICE! Hopefully people here keep us updated if they find other Mods as well, been searching but didn't find much yet!

Yes, harder versions of previous missions, but I'm not THAT far so I haven't done anything in that direction yet, although I didn't know about the "Subsistence?" mode (mentioned a page ago) going all in without any gear.

I'm having a hard time getting into this game after being a fan of MGS1,2,3,4.
I know that endless codec conversations were hated by some people, specially in MGS2 but I liked to hear what they had to say, it was always philosophical and quite interesting.
For me this is MGS., endless conversations.
Here, barely any conversations ? This could have been Splinter Cell for all I know... But this is NO MGS.

Having sampled like half of the game's cutscenes from youtube, Venom is mute, Ocelot is literally nothing AT ALL like his previous (young (MGS3) or old (MGS1/2) or "possessed" (MGS2/4)) depictions, Miller confusingly plays the character who Snake should have been playing (filled with anger and thirsty for revenge while the Snake we get to play is like <...silent...iamalreadyademoniguessmaybe?...silent...>), Quiet is just eye candy, and the one-long-take directing gimmick makes the cutscenes more awkward than MGS1's primitive ones, let alone from more recent games like MGS4 (or even MGS3 which was quite advanced for its time).
But I'm sure the gameplay is excellent as GZ already gave me a glimpse of so the game turned out to be pretty much how I expected.

So...forget about "Metal Gear Solid V" and play Phantom Pain instead. What is the problem? From the beginning Kojima said that this game will be nothing like the old ones.

Whatever Kojima said is his problem, not the players. Of course the players are within their rights to have certain expectations and be disappointed when those are not met, happy when they are met, thrilled when they are surpassed.

Of course. And the players' expectations (and being disappointed) are also their problems.
Don't get me wrong. Im also disappointed about Boss being quiet, almost no cutscenes and no codec calls.
This is a game that has MANY flaws but still is one of the best i played. Probably due to fanboyism.

Quite right on both statements.

Oh, this tard again.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty
