Hopefully they at least unlock the framerate and viewport, though the developers once said the borders were deliberate because "cinematic" and "artistic vision"... so meh to that.

At worst it can be modded via plugins such as Flawless Widescreen though yeah hopefully it won't be too bad for non-16:9 aspect ratios.

It's an MSPaint mockup of what my experience was on the derpsole version at 16:10 Laughing And no, I'm not joking. 16:9 had relatively thin, but still annoying, borders... but playing outside of a 16:9 resolution added MORE borders as the image was scaled to a non-supported AR. I am not joking when I say it took up 40%+ of the screen.

~edit~

Found an image Facepalm

No fake, no mockup, this is how it looked for me outside 16:9.

~edit~

Hello. I'm a developer on Dragon's Dogma 2: Cinematic Reckoning (oops, was I not supposed to leak that?!). We felt like the first game was perfect in almost every way. The only problem we thought it had was that it wasn't cinematic enough. With the sequel we want to embrace the cinematic nature in order to fully realize our artistic vision, hence even the title of the game. Here is an exclusive first screenshot from the game:

Hopefully 60FPS is possible. In any case, actually being locked at 30 if the game is locked at 30 FPS would still be a MASSIVE improvement over the console versions.

this game is great guys. didnt play the expansion but the base game, even if a bit repetitive and sometimes bland looking, kept me hooked until the end. combat mechanics are unique and fun

Bitterblack Isle is fucking amazing. Probably the best action RPG content I have played in years. Just a great place to explore.

The prospect of playing this little gem at 1440p 60fps makes me warm and fuzzy inside.
Completed it like 6 times on PS3 and I'm ready to jump in again with the power of the pc master race. Drooling

I loved this game despite the black bars and awful performance, can't wait!
I still remember them releasing 16:10 AR screenshots on their extranet and wondering why it's not being announced already....well....finally!

Too bad, they could;ve made it an enhanced edition or something since it'll be a re-release anyway.

DD should imo stay singleplayer. And the MP prototype they head according to one podcast o heard turned into DDO - so i guess your hopes might realise once they release DDO outside of Japan

Let the hype begin. Heard nothing but good things about this game from people even though I've never played it myself. Gives me a bit of a berserk vibe which is awesome and that magic system, damn!
No framerate cap and MT Framework engine is music to my ears. Hope it sells well. It might become the tipping point where Japan starts to pay as much attention to steam as console and handhelds. One can dream.

Bitterblack expansion is where this game truly shines. The whole brooding atmosphere of those closed out dungeons, the enemy variety, Death, Death's OST, fucking Wyrms & those Condemned Gorecyclops. Holy shite!
