Do you use them much? How do you find performance?

My host system is a celeron 2.66 with 1,5Gb Ram and Windows XP (not my gaming box Wink )

Performance is highly memory dependable. I used to have 512MB installed, that was clearly not enough. The performance of the machines is quite good now, i don't have all vm's running at the same time though, only debian and dos.

I use the fbsd (installed wtrhout an x) and the debian (with kde) for compiling (gcc) and other unix stuff. Both run fine, the machine without the x installed is obviously faster, but both are good to work with. I'm currently trying to get Solaris 10 to run on VMware, but so far i had no luck, but they claim it should work, ii'll get back to that then i have more time at hand, i'm sure i get it to run Smile

I was ironic... Linux doesnt have a specific shell and you also need to run different commands and so on.

My main machine is 2003 Enterprise server. I am however working with linux RedHat on the new box. I enjoy the Dos like control of linux and the availability of cluster software. Windows for Dvd movie back ups and Linux for the rest I think. A Mac server and a dozen Mac nodes if I win the lotto.

ManBlood try reading what I type... Linux has different shells depending on what kind of linux you got...

Microsoft are a bunch of capitalists which only cares about money... Take Halo as an example

I got around 7 different comps and all with a diff OS Smile

here goes:

WinXP Pro(Laptop)
WinXP Pro 64x
Mandrake 10.x 64x
Mandrake 10.1(Laptop)
Mandriva 2006(Laptop)
Slackware Linux 10.2
Suse / RedHat 9

I must say that *nix is by far the best OS out there....I personaly prefer Mandrake/mandriva over anything else, the
Code:

command:
urpmi *

is even easier than a windows installer because all you have to do is open a terminal and type the name of the prog and if your connected to the net the dl and installation begins automaticaly...so cool Very Happy

also no viruses and no more crashes or blue screen of death Smile
the only reason i have windows installed on my other comps is because there are some progs i still have not found a port or a similar version of in linux distros...also its so cool that most of the stuff is free..meaning not having to look for releases or anything like that Smile
