Spoiler: | This was the very first time the Master had ever engaged/conversed with the Daleks! Its always been just the Docta and his companions but never with the Master (whom always worked as an evil operative outside their view/scope). Very cool to see that but, of course, Daleks being the genetic superior creatures they are in the universe wouldn't remotely be wooed by the Master's witty intellect and ability to always find a way to wiggle out of tight situations. Day-um loved how fast they were able to dispense with that.. Good one Supreme Dalek!! |
|
Spoiler: | Wasn't there a pre-reboot story about the Master gaining control over the Daleks at some point? Seems I recall hearing it somewhere before. Maybe it's just the Rowan Atkinson DW parody episode, who knows. |
Anyway, great start, can't wait.

Hmm I don't remember that one from Frontier in Space but.. okkaayy.. Spoiler: | the other ones are off the radar since they are in paperback or limited release in some fashion HOWEVER considering how many times the Daleks have showed up over decades and decades the Masta's interaction with them remains extremely limited in the totality of the series hence again I submit this was a VERY lonng awaited interaction. |

I liked it and I hope they didn't spend most of the budget on one ep, but it all felt a bit random(?) I don't know how to explain. Maybe a two-parter with some build up would've been better.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2015/class
Quote: | BBC Three today announces Class - a new 8x45 Doctor Who spin-off from the acclaimed young adult author Patrick Ness.
Class is a YA series set in contemporary London. Incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space, and with darkness coming, London is unprotected. With all the action, heart and adrenalin of the best YA fiction (Buffy, Hunger Games), this is Coal Hill School and Doctor Who like you've never seen it before.
Steven Moffat says: “No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we're bringing his brilliant storytelling into Doctor Who. This is growing up in modern Britain - but with monsters!”
On his first television series, writer Patrick Ness says: "I'm astounded and thrilled to be entering the Doctor Who universe, which is as vast as time and space itself. There's so much room there for all kinds of amazing stories, and to work with Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin to find a place to tell one of my own has been an absolute joy. I can't wait for people to meet the heroes of Class, to meet the all-new villains and aliens, to remember that the horrors of the darkest corners of existence are just about on par with having to pass your A-Levels."
Damian Kavanagh, Controller BBC Three, adds: “We’re excited to give Patrick Ness this opportunity to work with us at BBC Three and the Doctor Who family. Patrick understands young audiences and I’m delighted he will use his incredible skills as a storyteller to delight audiences on BBC Three. BBC Three will always innovate and offer opportunities for brilliant new talent."
Polly Hill, Controller of BBC Drama Commissioning, adds: “I am thrilled that Patrick Ness is writing his first drama series for BBC Three. The combination of Patrick and Steven Moffat is an exciting partnership that has created a brilliant Doctor Who spin-off for our BBC Three audience.”
Class is executive produced by Steven Moffatt, Patrick Ness and Brian Minchin. It was commissioned by Damian Kavanagh, Controller of BBC Three, and Polly Hill, Controller of BBC Drama Commissioning.
An 8x45 minute series is produced by BBC Cymru Wales in association with BBC Worldwide for BBC Three.
The series will film in and around Wales from spring 2016 and be on air next year. |

Could be fun in the end but they seems to aim for Hunger Games/Buffy audience so pretty much something ike Sara Jones Adventures was but with teenagers.
Honestly I would rather get new season of Torchwood

O'Donnell is a strong contender for Spoiler: | the dumbest slasher/horror movie death. "Let's split up!", getting out of cover too early AND turning your back to the monster? Seriously?
Cass is not much better, even though she didn't die. Wandering through dark corridors filled with murderous ghosts and never bothering to look behind her
The intro with the Doctor looking at the camera and explaining the bootstrap paradox was really heavy-handed.
Also, the whole "I can't break the rules of time, except for the thousand times I did it before!" thing is getting old. |
