No, actually, DO force refresh rates. It is the best way to prevent damage to your monitor, and to save your eyes from games that only run @ 60hz. If you have an nvidia card, you can force refresh rates for various resolutions in the driver panel. For ATI you have to download a 3rd party program.

Or just do the dxdiag way.

The game starts at 800x600 60hz so I forced 85hz and got in there and adjusted the settings. Thanks for the help. All is good in the land of the dead.

got it to work with doing this

Problem
Stubbs the Zombie will not display graphics after installing the game to the hard drive.

Solution
We have no official solution as now, but we have one possible workaround.
It involves the use of third-party software called 'RefreshForce', for which we cannot provide much
in the way of support, however, the workaround has succeeded on all cases up to now. The steps are as follows:

1. Download the RefreshForce program at http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/. Place it on your hard drive somewhere.
2. Run RefreshForce. Your only option at first will be to Auto-Populate. Select that.
3. RefreshForce will bring up a list of different resolution settings, and their corresponding refresh rates.
You can change any of these rates to any other valid number--i.e. 60, 75, 85, etc.
4. Scroll to the 800 x 600 listing and change the refresh rate to 60 Hz.
5. Apply the setting.
6. Restart the computer for the setting to take effect.
7. When the computer is back up, launch Stubbs the Zombie. The game launches, by default, at 800 x 600 resolution,
and the refresh rate will now also default to 60 Hz, which is safe for most any monitor.
9. In the video options menu, you can change the resolution and refresh rate. Change it to whichever one you wish--it's
recommended that, no matter which screen resolution you choose, you set the refresh rate to 60 Hz in order for it to display properly.

do you have the SP2 installed cause some new games require SP2 to run.

Also one of my friend had a similar problem, on his last format/reinstallation he forgot to install the mobo drivers so no acceleration drivers were installed. Best thing to do is uninstall you catalyst, run the mobo drivers CD and install the things back then reinstall the catalyst. Dont know if its going to work but its worth the try

I had the same probs with flight sim Very Happy

There should be a .ini file in the stubbs directory which has the video settings--change the value of your card to "999999". hey presto it worked Very Happy - Well at least it's woth a shot?

ok:) found the right solution and if it worked with me it will work with all of you that have the same prob and the other solutions didn't work.

do this:

1. Go to the directory where Stubbs is installed:
C:\Program Files\Aspyr Media, Inc\Stubbs the Zombie - Rebel Without a Pulse

2. Right click the stubbs.exe and go to properties.

3. Select Run this program in compatability mode for: Windows 98/ME

4. Still in the properties box select run in 640 x 480 screen resolution. Click Apply then OK

5. Start Stubbs and set up the Video in there the way you want it. Restart it and enjoy. DO NOT go back and unclick the 640 x 480 or it will do the out of sync thing again. DO NOT change the compatability mode or it will go out of sync again.

hope it helped:)
for me it worked like charm.
have funn.
