Have a foxconn sckt 754 motherboard which claims to be able to take 2gb PC3200 184 pin across 2dimm slots.

I've bought 2 standard generic 1gb PC3200 dimms from two separate PC Suppliers and both times the motherboard just bleeps as if there is no memory installed. I'm just about to send the second dimm back but thought I'd ask is this just coincidence or is there a possible Incompatibility issue i'm unaware of?

The bios is up to date BTW.

Downloaded the motherboard manual which is more recent than the one I got.

The motherboard can take 2gb across 2dimm slots, but not dimm modules greater than 512mb.

ya hehe, i never heard of that brand mobo Shocked

try looking for a bios update perhaps.

Yep, tried that. Just cheap components I guess. Next upgrade is going to be a big one, going from AGP to PCI-E, so I'll probably have to spend a bit more. Figured that video card was the only important component so bought cheap everything else, but trying to run COD2 on hard with more soldiers proved me wrong.
