It crashes for us legitimate owners too. People on the Steam forums are fuming because they can't even start it.

Another one...Well yes, see above......

Lets be honest, we are, after all an honest community. Are we surprised? Unfinished games are the norm.

Games released now are like premature babies, clinging to life by the most tenuous of threads.

Holy shit. Those cutscenes with static 3D models that don't move their mouths or anything else. The camera just randomly zooms around the scene.
That looks so damn retarded. Ubilol.

Maaaaaaan, why can't todays games "just" work? Was playing around with the graphics options in game, because i only get about 40 fps on the map...
Well after a few minutes the game crashed and RAM usage was at nearly 4 GB.
*RAGE*

// RAM usage went down to about 1.3 GB after a while

You can enable the full UE3 debug console in this game, pretty useful for various purposes from outright cheats to taking screenshots. Very Happy

(Just change "ConsoleKey=" to "ConsoleKey=Tilde" in the input .ini file in the Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic 7\ folder.)

No crashing problems with isodemo.

They really cut down on the budget for this installment it seems... And I like it, no waste of money on pointless cinematics (the cutscenes were awkward tho, characters are not animated as someone else already pointed out Very Happy ). The interface is clean and simple, less 3D graphics.

I have a good feeling about Heroes VII. Cool

+ 1 gameplay-wise it was surprisingly good in beta (kinda like mix of fan favourite features from 3,4 and 6) - no idea about full version though - its from the devs of MMX so the small budget was expected

but seems like they buttfucked all of us CZ/PL/HU people with noenglish Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The difficulty controls their resource bonus but you can't disable it entirely even with a custom difficulty level so yeah it looks like it.

Finished first campaign mission.
It's okay so far. At least it doesn't seem to have those Dynasty items like in HOMM6.
Though graphics seem to be worse than in HOMM6.

I'm not a hardcore fan of the series - I only started with VI and then played V and III based on recommendations.

I played two campaign missions of VII and I can't bring myself to play further. I can't speak about the mechanics, as I liked them in VI (unpopular opinion, I'm sure), but the feel of the game is just not there for me. Honestly, for a while I was wondering if it's really VII or if it's some cruel joke by CODEX.

From the terrible cutscenes with non-moving mouths (the scenes with just pictures and voice-overs were fine though, why not stick to that?), to god-awful voice acting and script to really bad choppiness and imprecise controls.

Even if the core gameplay is better than ever (which I cannot judge), the game seems extremely unpolished. What really iritates me are the reused icons from VI.

And to think I was so hyped for this game... I spent entire days playing campaign in VI but VII is just not my cup of tea.

I would be very surprised if this gets more than 7 (considering reviewers usually don't use the full scale). I would give it 2/5 - strictly for hardcore fans of the series.

Personally I really dislike the fact that almost all of the campaign is just "stories" told by council members. If this is true, then it loses all significance in the game world. From an immersion perspective, it's like playing in a character's dream - 0 impact for the game world, inconsequential :\

So, anyone else having the problem that the campaign is not updating after finishing a mission (in CODEX)? I can still progress by saving and do each individual mission, but the campaign view still shows 0 progress in every campaign. I believe that this would mean that I can't start the final campaign.

Good foundation otherwise. Homm 3 was clearly an inspiration, and despite sub par graphics and some bugs, it shows promise. Now the question remains whether devs will continue to polish it.
