Bought the taken king and the "upgrade pack" on psn. Currently only level 26.. But damn, the game has improved A LOT since launch. Now I actually enjoy it
well, as far as I know they reduced the amount of currencies a lot with the Taken King expansion.
And the new currency is a micropay currency, so a bit different. (I wonder when will we see some p2w items for sale , they'll probably start selling the 'three coins' which increase the chance of getting exotic drops, and since you can get these other ways too, people will flock to defend that it's not p2w)

Seems that people are jumping to conclusions, which is understandable. No-one likes micro-transactions and quick p2w shortcut bullshit.
However, I'm remaining optimistic for the time being..... Until officially stated by Bungie or a p2w scenario actually appears in-game everything is pure speculation.

The Valorous/Heuristic/Indomitable Light were Three of Coins-like buffs sold by the Speaker for Motes+Planetary Materials (I honestly don't remember exactly what they cost, [but it was never Silver] I can't keep the entire economy in my head) but for a variety of bug-related reasons they were removed. They were also - as has been pointed out - in the data files before TTK shipped.
