I am actually really impressed with th emotional maturity on this thread.

She is a student. You knew this and kinda accepted this when you moved I together. She needs to go out too once in a while with her girlfriends.

What I'm reading into here is that you don't feel appreciated anymore.....

You need to talk to her about that. Tell her that you feel you are really a great guy and partner because of this. Supporting your girlfriend throughout school is huge! You might need to hear this more often, and know your are appreciated

I don't think it's really about the money, rather a fear of being taken for a ride or taken advantage of.

Yep, I think you've opened my eyes a little guys. It's just fucking money - I'll earn more, I'll lose more, but the time I spend with my girlfriend and the fact that she feels secure thanks to me is invaluable even if we split up one day Smile

Even if she did not earned enough, she helped you back then. And that is a bit the essence of a marriage (i know, she's just your girl, right now). For better or worse.

There are some good suggestions to take in consideration and if you earn a lot, i think that you can spare some money from time to time. But...have a good chat with her and see what she wants from life, what are her expectations and see if you can help her towards her goals.

This! Sorry to say blackdochia but after reading that line in your post, the rest makes you look like a prick.
I don't what type of person you gf is, but asking for money is really uncomfortable.

I assume you know and trust her well enough to know if she was taking advantage of you.

When I had financial difficulties in the past, asking for money was very uncomfortable even from parents/very close friends/gf, if they would have have criticized me for that, it would have crushed my already shriveled self-esteem.
I have friends who are in financial distress and whenever when meet for a drink I'll gladly offer to pay for theirs as well, because I know how crappy if feels to be in that situation and I don't want them to feel that way. Sad

Kicking a person when they're down, because they're there, won't help them get back up. Smile
