Wow. Ouch. An i7 and 780/290x recommended? That seems incredibly excessive for the Oblivion/Skyrim engine Neutral

That's what happens when you continually try to cram new stuff into something built on the creaky old foundations of shitty engine now getting on to nearly 20 years old.

Well the next Elder Scrolls game, or whatever they will do after this, hopefully will use a new engine.

People have been hoping for that since Skyrim, at least.

I haven't played a CoD since the first Black Ops, so I couldn't really say what their engine is like these days, but I suspect anything based on early id tech is probably a far more solid foundation than Gamebryo. Although Source had much the same origin and it was getting pretty long in the tooth last I saw of it.

I7 already paid off in Crysis 3. The grass levels won't run 60fps even with a 5ghz i5. But then it never paid off again. Very Happy

EDIT: Well, that's not true. Frostbite games like i7 and a handful of others, but they ran 60fps even with i5's.

Feels like this game will "feature" Denu because of those high ass requirements and the lack of the Construction Set. Maybe it isnt modular like previous games and they need to code it a different way so that it plays nice with that piece of shit drm.

The construction kit *is* coming though. The GECK didn't launch with FO3, the Creation Kit didn't launch with Skyrim.

I hope they make a nudity and sex mod like they have for Skyrim.

I didn't care very much for Skyrim until I discovered I could go around making kings, queens and other rulers get on their knees and suck my Dovahdiick.

Nothing like asserting your superiority by anally violating an aging king.

Do we know for certain it is not a new(er) version of that engine?

F03 and Oblivion felt about the same, except for the character design (no round heads) as far as the engine.

FO3NV felt a bit better or more optimized engine.

Skyrim felt like a newer engine

FO4 should be a bit newer or at lest much more optimized than the one they used for Skyrim (although that one is very optimized IMO)

New or new(er). Pick one Wink Because yes, we already know for certain that it's on Gamebr... *cough* Creation Engine. Bethesda already said so.

FONV had the exact same engine as FO3; Gamebryo.

Newer engine, Gamebryo slightly tweaked and retitled as Creation.

IIRC creation engine is the previous version with proper/better streaming and a couple of tweaks

Yup Smile Thus; same engine, just slightly tweaked Very Happy FO4 does look nice, the lighting changes are nice, but we'll just have to see how it performs - and these new sysreqs/recs are worrying.

Stuttering and shitty draw distances are mostly what I'm worried about. Mainly stuttering as it seems to have affected just about every other Bethesda game in the past at launch.

... and was never "officially" fixed either. The first "mods" for Beth games, outside of nude skins natch, were "fixes" that tried to alleviate the constant hitching Sad I really hope the switch to 64bit and the advancement in the engine can allow for *substantially* improved streaming and system utilisation.

Exactly, this is being 'optimised' for console, PC's will have to use extra CPU to emulate the vastly superior hardware of the XBONE.
