You where going to buy it, but since you heard news that shocked no one now you won`t?

This is standard, the norm these days. If you like a game to the point where you`d buy it why let this stop you when it`s just how everything is now?

I can`t think of any "AAA" MP shooter that doesn`t do the same or similar.

Well it's a game for casuals, no need for communication and team work.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I don't think anyone ever used the in-game solutions on PC anyway. In all my hundreds of hours in BF4, I must have only heard someone on voice chat a whopping two times. Both times it was a voice of a 12-yearold saying "Can you hear me?".
It was pretty much the same in every multiplayer game I have played on PC except for Counter Strike.

everyone cried for VoiP after BF3 yet nobody uses it in BF4. I see why they skipped it this time.

So it appears that EA have indeed patched the Mexican Origin store method for pricing via Chrome/Hola - has anyone here been brave enough to attempt using the BR store? It comes out to ~$33.50 then.

For all intents in purposes it should be exactly the same as the old method - but I'm wondering if there are any extra hoops to jump through as it is BR and they are known for extra fraud checking etc. Assuming Paypal still works?

When you try via the Brazil store you need a tax ID. I tried it once with a game, but the payment got rejected.

Mexico still works.
Standard: 39.99
Deluxe 44.99
Ultimate 78.99

Or go with the GMG coupon for 25% off: GMGMID-SEASON-25PERC:

Not for me it doesn't - at least not via the method I'm used to doing it (Chrome + Hola extension VPN). Good to know the BR thing won't work at least.

That did it - thanks.

Ended up using Chrome + ProxySwitchySharp and just manually entering a Mexican proxy. Seems a few other things were different this time around too though - for one, Origin didn't pull the money immediately out of my account, instead, Paypal prompted for one of those "pre-approved" future authorizations. Also, it listed two different totals - $39.99 on my official receipt, $42.00 on the website - so not sure which one it will charge. Either way, it works out cheaper than any other method at the moment.

For me, the Star Wars Battlefront Open Beta didn’t have the initial impact that Siege’s Beta had. It took me a while to come back to the game and give it another try but it grew on me. Might have been the unlocks that made the game more interesting (jet pack!) or the fact that I got to play it with more friends or is purely superficial and I came back just for the sound design and graphics, but I came back and played much more than I thought I will. The game is fun in its own way, but I’m not sure how much is there to keep this gameplay entertaining for a longer period of time. We shall see at release how much of the beta impressions were accurate and relevant to the entirety of the game and if the content that comes with the release is going to keep this title alive for more than just until the upcoming Battlefield release. As I’ve seen it the game might be a hit or miss for either of the Battlefront or Battlefield fans, but surely is going to resonate well with the starved fans of the Star Wars universe.

As a Battlefield fan I thought it was pretty lacking and derp. As a Star Wars fan I did enjoy it a lot, even when getting spawn-raped by a walker, but I'm sure that will get old quite fast Razz

As a Battlefield fan, I'm bored to fucking tears of what Battlefield has to offer. We've got 50 different AR's - but only one or two are worth using. Same for the vehicle load-out options - they're there, but nothing other than one set of things is worth it. I honestly don't care that Battlefront is leaning more towards cosmetic customization rather than load-outs.

Also, and I'd never thought I'd say this - but I'm looking forward to the Matchmaking Only regulated servers. Why, you ask? Because I'm sick and tired of shit for brains server admins dicking with settings and destroying any semblance of balance. This applies chiefly to those "instant/fast vehicle respawn" servers (of which I'd venture to say 70% of the servers that are left are), even if they don't put it in the description.

The one drawback will be the prevalence of cheaters, but I've seen more than my fair share of clan people cheating/cheezing on clan servers with not so much as a mention, so it's not like Battlefield addressed that either.

Put simply, I'm ready for something different (even if it is only skins and audio).

Star Wars Battlefront Spoilers
PREFACE:
As the Battlefront Beta ended, someone went into the beta’s core files and pulled out all of the strings they found in the game’s code (source below). However, since the result was slightly unorganized without the context of the game code, it is difficult to parse out the meaning of each string.
The reason I’ve made this is because I’ve seen a lot of hate towards the game, based on opinions formed during the beta and from lack of information. I feel as though EA/DICE’s marketing team has been underhyping the game in the way they’ve been releasing information, which has caused unnecessary anger to be formed against their game. I really liked the beta, and I believe the game has been made as a great product of Star Wars passion. I am trying to help people understand that it really isn’t a step down from the previous Battlefronts in many ways, it is just a newer modern version of the originals. I am also not being paid by EA to say any of this lol (tho I wouldn’t mind some extra $$ Razz)
Below I’ve attempted to format the strings in such a way that it’s easy to figure out what is in the game, according to this dump. I also don’t want to spoil EA’s announcement fun, so I’ve blacked out the things that they haven’t announced yet (simply highlight/copy the bars on your computer to read them) I will try to keep this up to date with what’s been announced. I’ll leave weapons unblocked just so people can see all of them.
Everything formatted *(text) are things that I’ve added/ I couldn’t explicitly find in the string dump/ my comments.
There is a lot of dialogue in the string dump that I haven’t included. I also opted not to include the options menu settings I found in my search, but I’ll add them upon request. The first thing in the string dump I’m assuming is the game’s list of achievements which I didn’t feel would be a productive addition to this collection.

Without further ado:
=====(WEAPONS)=====
RT-97C
-The RT-97C is a versatile heavy blaster, fitted with optics to allow use at long range.
A280
-A280 is a sturdy and powerful blaster rifle that has a high rate of fire, excellent damage and long range reach. It has been adopted by the Rebel Alliance as its main battle rifle.
SE-14C
-The SE-14C is a blaster pistol that fires 5-round bursts, making it ideal for close-quarter combat.
T-21
-The T-21 is a robust heavy blaster that delivers massive damage at long ranges. Its only drawback is its slow rate of fire and lack of optics.
CA-87
-The CA-87 is a retro-fitted Jawa blaster that is extremely deadly at short range, but near useless at medium and long range.
EE-3
-The EE-3 is an optically fitted Blaster Rifle capable of 3-round burst fire at long ranges.
DH-17
-The DH-17 is a fully automatic blaster pistol. Its high rate of fire, along with reasonable accuracy, make it an ideal weapon for medium-range combat.
DLT-19
-The DLT-19 is a heavy blaster with an excellent rate of fire that deals heavy damage at long range, capable of pinning down troops and taking out large groups of enemies.
DL-44
-The DL-44 is one of the most powerful blaster pistol in the galaxy. It delivers massive damage at close range, but overheats quickly.
E-11
-A powerful and accurate blaster rifle, the E-11 is ideal for use in all environments. It has been adopted as the standard weapon of the Imperial Forces.
A280C
-A280C is a sturdy and powerful blaster rifle that has a high rate of fire and excellent firepower. Modified from the A280 rifle, it was the favored weapon of Alliance commandos.
T-21B
-The T-21B is a more refined version of the T-21 model, with added scopes for zoom capability and a slower fire rate to ensure high precision at long range.
=====(STAR CARDS)=====
THERMAL DETONATOR
-The most popular and widely used grenade in the galaxy. It is easy to use and has deadly results.
EXPLOSIVE SHOT
-Temporarily supercharges your primary weapon to fire explosive bolts.
IMPACT GRENADE
-Having a smaller blast radius than a Thermal Detonator, the Impact Grenade explodes directly on contact with any object.
PULSE CANNON
-An incredibly powerful long-range rifle utilizing the frame assembly of a DLT-20A, the so-called "pulse cannon" has become the weapon of choice for many sharpshooters. The power of its shot is dependent on the charge-up time.
COOLING CELL
-When activated, vents heat from your main weapon and prevents further heat build-up for a short period of time.
-Cools down the primary weapon so that it does not overheat for X seconds
CYCLER RIFLE
-Designed to fire solid projectiles, this crude but reliable rifle is excellent at hitting targets at extreme ranges and penetrating energy shields.
-The Cycler Rifle is rumored to be a modification of the Czerka hunting rifle made by Tusken Raiders after they stole large shipments of the weapon from Imperial lockups.
THERMAL IMPLODER
-The Thermal Imploder compresses and heats the surrounding atmosphere, creating a vacuum that produces a violent implosion within a massive radius.
-Based upon the success of the Thermal Detonator, Loratus Manufacturing developed a substantially more powerful device known as the Thermal Imploder. Unfortunately, its users were often caught in the weapon's massive implosion radius.
CLUSTER SHOT
-Adds an explosive splash to the primary weapon
FLASH GRENADE
-A non-lethal explosive which creates a bright energy flash and loud noise to disorient opponents.
ION GRENADE
-An ion grenade that delivers massive damage against vehicles, shields, and droids.
Rocketpack *(?-out of place, may have been copy/holdover of jumppack)
(PLACEHOLDER) The Rocketpack allows you to traverse the environment.
BARRAGE
-The MPL-57 (Multi-Purpose Launcher) Barrage fires a volley of 3 grenades with a short delay fuse.
-During the Galactic War, Merr-Sonn sought to widen their market share with the MPL-57 (Multi-Purpose Launcher). The versatile nature of this weapon system and its capability of firing a wide range of ammunition made it popular on the battlefield.
ION TORPEDO
-A homing ion torpedo that is designed to deal heavy damage to vehicles and stationary weapons.
-A modification of the popular MPL-57 weapon system engineered to fire ion torpedoes. Extremely effective against vehicles and stationary weapons.
HOMING SHOT
-A homing rocket that locks on to enemy soldiers from afar.
SCOUT PISTOL
-A light side-arm effective at taking out opponents at close range. Quickly loses its capabilities at longer distances.
-PLACEHOLDER The Scout Pistol is the perfect close range wepaon to switch to when your primary weapon is in overheat.
SMOKE GRENADE
-Smoke grenades provide dense smoke that blocks visibility and lock-on weapons.
BOWCASTER
-Depending on the charge-up time, the Bowcaster fires 1 or more explosive bolts in a horizontal arc.
-As robust and formidable as its Wookiee creators, the Bowcaster is more powerful than an average blaster, making it a favorite among mercenaries and bounty hunters across the galaxy.
PERSONAL SHIELD
-The Personal Energy Shield provides protection from energy weapons. However, it offers no defense against kinetic weapons like Cycler Rifles and grenades.
-To minimize casualties, the Empire modified the Droideka Shield Technology for use by ground troops. Although it hindered the use of weapons, it proved popular and was adopted by the Rebel Alliance.
ION SHOT
-A modification which allows your primary weapon to fire ion charged bolts, making it very effective against shields, droids, and vehicles.
-With limited supplies of armaments, Rebel forces often made battlefield adaptions to their weapons. A notable case was the development of an insert which allowed normal blasters to fire ion charged bolts for short periods of time.
JUMP PACK
-Back mounted Jump Pack that utilizes burst thrusters to allow its user to jump over large distances. It is well suited for traversing obstructions and evading danger.
-Although the Jump Pack does not allow for sustained flight, it offers troops a reliable alternative to move quickly across the battlefield.
SMART ROCKET
-A rocket that can be dumb-fired at any target. Automatically switches to guided mode when it detects an enemy vehicle.
-The experimental SoroSuub Rocket was intelligent enough to be fired in dumb mode, then switch to guided mode mid-flight if a target of opportunity appeared.
ORBITAL STRIKE
-A lethal cannon barrage from planetary orbiting ships, covering a large area.
-Capital ships have often altered the tide of battle when called upon for orbital-to-ground fire missions. Boasting turbolasers and pinpoint accuracy, targets have little hope of withstanding their massive barrage.
SQUAD SHIELD
-Portable energy shield that protects users from blasters and other energy weapons.
-Following the Battle of Naboo, weapons manufactures scrambled to modify the Gungan shield technology into a man-portable device. The resulting Squad Shield is now used extensively by Combat Engineers.
CARD REFRESH
-Resets the cooldown on all of your cards.
FOCUS FIRE
-Temporarily grants a considerable bonus to accuracy with your primary weapon. *(? - out of place/ farther than most other descriptions but fit)
-The Focus Fire Star Card will greatly increase your blasters accuracy.

BLASTER CANNON
-The Mark II is a deployable blaster cannon that uses devastating firepower to keep the enemy at bay.

As long as the release (at least) includes fixes for the following issues:
- Not being able to choose spawn point
- Not being able to change cards during matches (other than second/partner hand)
- Matchmaking dismemberment
- Not being able to see your or anybody else's ping
- UI MINIATURISATION
-More Graphics and Audio options
- Increase grenade cooldown

Walker Mode
- Disable uplink station de/activation while using the Shield
- Remove Empire ability to use Rebel turrets, especially after moving to next set of MCOMS
- Create tutorial titled:"ORBITAL STRIKES ON AT-ATs FOR DUMMIES" -> Most of the balancing done right there
- Decrease range of AT-AT
- Prevent AT-ATs and AT-STs from firing inside the rebel base
- Enable Rebels to actually SEE what's outside the base from inside
- KILL ALL THE MATCHMAKING

Also u can't chat after the match has ended, which was available in all battlefields.
as most of these features actually.

edit : not even gonna mention the fact that all server customization is gone with matchmaking.
although that could be for the better, unless you really want 42 player sullust TDM servers, or ones with fast vehicle respawn. Razz

I think I remember post match chat being added in a patch in one of the recent Battlefields after the release. Might have even been BF3.

Not sure what you would want to add to audio options - those looked pretty good.

The blinding bloom when looking outside the base from a distance might actually work as a balance feature, to prevent the rebels from killing everything that approaches the choke point from cover. Not that the Empire side needed any help Very Happy

the problem is when it's time to attack the walker.....pretty much all the rebels spawn inside the base, which makes it easy to get killed, really easy.

Yes, in that case the situation gets flipped... They should do the dark side of HDR as welll - make it so it's too dark to see anything inside until you get closer Very Happy

Rage Is that you??? That drives me nuts Laughing I want to literally reach into the screen and pull out their spine when I hear that, especially whenit wasn't 'easy' and only won by either a few points, or on the very last objective.

Doesn't really bother me. Stops people from switching load-out every spawn whenever they get killed by something different. "Oh, I got killed by an air vehicle, let me spawn with a stinger and kill it, then suicide and re-spawn back with my real kit". This forces you to balance your cards or focus on a particular strong suit. No issue with this.

Quote:

- Matchmaking dismemberment

Stops server admins from exploiting/ruining game balance by changing "their" server rules (instant vehicle spawns, increased point awards etc.). Look at the sad fucking state BF4 is in due to everyone being able to set their own rules and yet still retain "ranked" status on the servers. Matchmaking is not ideal, but at least it ensures everyone's on a level playing field and destroys the statpad/exploit servers.

Quote:

- Not being able to see your or anybody else's ping

Your ping should be seen - other people's pings are completely irrelevant as you won't be changing/kicking them.

Quote:

-More Graphics and Audio options

What's missing from the graphics/audio options? I found them to be fairly extensive (at least on the graphics side, didn't pay much attention to audio.)

Quote:

- Enable Rebels to actually SEE what's outside the base from inside

How do you propose they implement this? Periscopes? X-Ray vision? Very Happy
Besides, that'll just lead to Rebels exploiting for easy kills (they can see exactly where the enemy is, the enemy can't see them until they step out).

I don't understand all the whining when it comes to the Rebel side of the game. Yes, rebels are massively outgunned, but they're supposed to be, no? I logged 60 hours in the beta, and I had dozens of victories where the rebels won BEFORE THE FIRST POINT. If you were on a team that knew what the fuck it was doing, it was very possible to win as the rebels. We also pulled off many clutch victories (tying one walker up and finishing the other) with seconds to spare.

People whine and bitch and moan about the sides being "unbalanced", but all it comes down to is that you can't fix stupid. If your team is full of stupid players, you deserve to lose (and rightly so). Such is the way of "team" based shooters.
