You just need to have Steam on login state, launch the game and you can then shut down Steam.

Aye, seemingly you can close Steam once the game is loaded. Strange protection but I'm glad it's cracked and I'd still like to know whether people can play the legit version with Steam in offline mode, see whether online-auth really is active as the EULA mentions.

They *removed* the Japanese lyrical intro movie after people found out they could use that to replace the non-lyrical English version.

http://steamcommunity.com/app/351970/discussions/0/490123727973982378/

30fps "by design", a ton of expensive DLC at launch, blocking Steam broadcasting due to "license rights" and now actively removing files to prevent the community from switching languages.

What a truly wonderful company. Reminds me of Square-Enix, who left the "console exclusive" DLC in the data files for PC's FFXIII-2, so when the community found out and made mods to restore it all; SE released a "patch" that simply removed the data completely.

~edit~

Aaaaand they've just deleted the thread detailing the intro switch. Jesus.

For anyone that still has the 1.0 launch version, simply go to your "RAW\MOVIE" folder and look at the bottom. You'll see two files;

AM_TOZ_OP_001.bk2 and AM_TOZ_OP_001_JPN.bk2. Make backups of both, then rename the JPN one to the non JPN one. That will replace the "English" non-lyrical introduction movie (which apparently only plays once you pass a certain part of the story anyhow) with the Japanese one with the sung intro theme.

tonizito wrote:

Exactly! We can just stick with 1.0 or download AM_TOZ_OP_001_JPN.bk2 manually and put it back grinhurt I can host it, it's 250MB, but I don't know if posting it here is allowed... it's only a single video file after all, but egh. Need a mod ruling. For now, it's here;

http://steamcommunity.com/app/351970/discussions/0/490123727972759782/#c490123727974211670

And if it goes down, I'll up it on RIN Smile

Those fucking japdevs.

Game was crashing at launch before you have to chose your audio language.
The fix is to set your speakers to stereo mode.
And to change ingame audio to stereo, you have to actual start a new game. As in the main menu there is no audio submenu.

// Fuck this shit. Gonna wait for a patch that fixes the surround sound problem.

I can confirmed; instacrash on 7.1 surround. Switching Windows to stereo fixes it.

Hmm works fine with surround here, but sounds a bit odd.

Besides, unless I'm missing something, there are no voiceovers, which in this sort of JRPG is ludicrous - regardless of budget etc. It's just too quiet for my liking.

Edit: Ah, surround currently kills all voices. And there is no way to change it back to stereo. Good job Laughing

its quite normal for a tales of game, because of the sheer number of npc around.
only the main events/quests and important sub-quest-events are with voiceover.

After some time with the game, I have to say that I prefer Xillia 2 by miles.

At least you had your cute alternate reality daughter to be all fatherly about.

And the viking ancestor of the Norman kings Rollo, who is a fat cat in the game for some reason.

Now I wish they'd release Xillia 2 on the PC instead so I can maybe finally finish it.

Spoilers: I won't because I was around 20ish hours into the game and cannot be arsed to replay from the start. #ROLLO

You need to fix the INI, as well as getting some of the extra DLC folders that were missing. Check the first page of the Zestiria thread on RIN.

A fix for the surround sound crash:
Quote:
Game is perfectly working with 5.1 sound, you just have to start it in stereo once, then change game settings to surround, save&quit and restore your default windows sound settings.

And there still is no patch out, not even a hotfix?

Wait, its actually 24 fps video? So it stutters like hell, because you have to watch it at 60Hz? Why did this practice ever exist? Laughing

Because it's Anime:

Quote:
Anime runs at an average of 24 frames per second, with main objects animated at 8 to 12 fps and background objects as low as 6 to 8 fps. Anime often hide or use tricks to conceal that fact that nothing in the frame is being animated. Such as: the speaking character’s back is turned to eliminate the need to animate mouth movements, or a sequence such as someone running is simply looped animation, or a sideways moving shot or a shot zooming in on a character is not animated, but rather the camera moving over a single cel (recent anime "Attack on Titan" was very notorious of this).

Akira is the most famous animated full feature done in "true" 24fps for the whole length of the movie, as far as i know no other Anime does that even the Studio Ghibli movies are mosty animated at 12 fps max.
