There was yet another patch. I don't know which patch changed this, but they fixed the one thing that annoyed me: the shadows.
Launch version, they had that annoying "radius" where shadows close to the camera were higher quality while shadows away from the camera were low quality. The difference was very obvious and when moving the camera around, you'd clearly see the shadows change in front of your eyes.
Right now I'm playing and the same quality is used for the whole scene.

I can't remember how it was in original, but I have now bigger monitor with higher resolution (27" 1440p) and camera is too zoomed in. There's no option for how far you can zoom out. That's only major problem for me so far.

Thats how it is in the original and the reason i never really put more than 20 hours or so into it. Bleh, idiotic camera.

This. I'm confused as I didn't think they had actually changed anything if you have the PC UI selected.
Is the option still there to completely unlock the camera? It used to bring up a prompt saying the game wasn't designed for it but worked well anyway. That let you zoom out as much as you wanted.

I don't think anything as there is a separate console UI, which is often better than making a standard UI for everything.
PC: Yes. Console: No.

I press the left stick on my controller and the free camera mode is there. There must be a keyboard assignment for sure.

You can freely pan camera with WSAD or turn on camera panning on edges of the screen in options menu.
Now unlocking maximum zoom is different matter.

I'll still go ahead and ignore every EULA out there.

This runs like butter for me now. Solid 60fps with everything on max. None of the (minor) stuttering I had from the original. The only thing I wish I could do, as others have said, is zoom out just a little bit more. Played it originally on the yarr version but had picked it up during one of the sales. Or maybe it was a humble deal. Now replaying it with a Rogue and a Wizard. I think I'm going to get my ass handed to me but it's fun.

I'll rephrase my earlier question. Is the enhanced edtion so different that playing both versions feels like two different games both in story and gameplay?

No.

I don't know, I feel like this starting area is poorly paced, there's way too many things happening and they all hit you in the face at the start of the game.
On top of that I don't know how to manage my inventory anymore, never felt this in any game before. I just have so many things and I don't want to throw them away because I always have the feeling of "but what if I can combine that with something a bit later on and get something else and...", so yeah.
I don't know, it's weird, I'm enjoying it but it feels a bit like work at the same time. |
Just throw it away (sell it to vendors).
Books - read them and then sell (so that you unlock recipe)
Equipment - either sell or smelt in furnace for materials that you then either sell or use to craft stuff
Consumables - use them! No need to save them up. Like usual, you realize towards the end that you hoarded so many consumables that you can't possibly use them all before game ends. That goes for scrolls, grenades, special arrows, potions and even food.

Now that you mention it, I can't find this either. |
Yeah, it's not there as far as I can tell. I remember that back then I ended up using a handy Cheatengine script to allow for proper zooming out, but the guy who originally did it has no plans to update it at the moment. *drama button*
(the only option that brings a similar prompt message now is the Close-up Dialog one, but it looks useless xD)
Apart from that, I quickly tried this EE too before dinner and definitely seems well made. Smooth, clean, the UI tweaks are alright, and the loading times are godly now even for me (a rarity). They didn't fuck it up thankfully.

I expected more improvements with crafting. It's still way too much hassle, so I'll likely just ignore that part of game.
You want to smelt weapons? Sure, you just have to send them all to the character with blacksmithing, can't do that from anyone (at least identifying and repairing works party wide). Same with actually crafting stuff, like picklocks...you have to send ingredients to inventory of party member with crafting and then craft...
Jesus why they just didn't make shared inventory, especially in singleplayer mode...And just use backpacks for character-bound mini inventories for stuff like teleport pyramids.

Be careful when selling books. Reading them doesn't unlock every recipe contained in a book. Some recipes are written down in the book and you must manually read and discover them by combining items together.
If you just open the book and close it without reading, you'll only get a few recipes.

They said that the biggest changes in the story were late in the game, and I'm not sure anyone (in this forum) has reached this point yet.
So far, I've seen some new content but the story is the same, simply with rewritten dialogue and voices.
The gameplay is tweaked in classic mode and quite change in Tactician mode. They've tweaked some of the skills to rebalance the game, made it so that more builds are viable, and added new items and mechanics to the game (such a wands and bombs).
If you're playing in Classic, you can finish the game using the same builds as before. I found the game a tiny bit harder (enemies seem smarter, they make better use of combos and environmental dangers) but overall it feels the same.
In Tactician, you really have to use everything you've got, which makes you take advantage of the new elements added. This gives it a "new" feeling. It's still the same game as before, but you gotta find new solutions.

Whats a good class combo to go for? I'm not to bothered about min maxing but I'm sure I read a while ago that you can make the game super hard with the wrong combo. I don't mind a bit of a challenge but I don't want it so fucking hard I quit and never go back to it.

A 2h using warrior and an air/water mage is a good starting combo. At least that's what I completed the game with back when it first came out.
I'm trying a DW warrior instead of 2h on my current play through, it feels very lacklustre compared to 2h though.

Cheers for the info Steelone
Think i'll start a play through today. I've owned the game since release as a friend gave me a beta key that upgraded to full. So this games nice and fresh to me for a first time play through.
