Increases the LOD distance of most objects in the game, bit of a brute force method as LOD is stored together with the 3D mesh itself so as these have to be edited and repacked the download size is pretty large.

The difference is extremely subtle though.. I opened the comparison images in Photoshop and faded between the before/after images. There are times when a really tiny object (e.g a vine or a flower pot) is visible with the mod, most of the time it's identical to the unmodded game.

You think?
Flipping back and forth between these two, the difference in detail is huge:

http://static-5.nexusmods.com/15/mods/952/images/949-3-1446449724.jpg

Would definitely use if my PC could handle it but I'm already dropping to <30fps in Novigrad so I'll pass for now.

Lol this comment...willing to play at 19 fps just for the mod:

Now this is an amazing mod!!!
Getting 25-30 frames with everything on ultrahigh and 1600x900 without AA, and I´m really curious to test this mod.
I guess 19-20 Frames with mod running - what do you think?
Fine graphics is the most important thing because the gameplay is already PERFECT in Witcher 3

not like he had high standards before the mod, 25-30 Laughing

i get nauseous just thinking about it. Very Happy

@pillermann

Tbh I wouldn't call it "huge"..it is quite noticeable but I'm not sure this difference justifies 10 fps performance hit.

PS It looks like this mod is most effective in cities whereas in wilderness the difference is negligible.

The only difference there was the vine, nice but hardly worth losing FPS over, imo.. very subtle. The shadows are also slightly different (since not taken in the exact same moment) which makes it harder to judge the quality.

Those aren't shadows, it's additional detail on the brickwork lol. Yeah not worth the fps hit but for peeps with fancy 980s and Furies it should be playable.

Sometimes there's more shading on the before image, sometimes in the after image, depending on where you look.. i have no preference between the two really, except in the rare case there's additional detail, like the added vine.

Someone put Ciris head texture on Geralt, I'm surprised it kinda fits.
(Should Witcher 3 had been a JRPG... Razz )

For a more serious effort there's this as well trying to be a bit closer to the books such as the neck scar and various degrees of hair and hair color corrections such as the eyebrows being made white.

(I find it to be a bit too pale though, using this currently. - http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/390/? )

It took me somewhere around 230 or so hours just for base game (before expansion)...But I read every book and note I found. But I skipped most POI in skellige. I'll probably do them on my second playthrough.

Well i don't use the minimap, so I don't get the POI ocd attractions, nor do I know where most of them are until I explore into their path.

I'm actually more surprised you got 180 hours out of the game with the gps and the secrets all labeled on the minimap.

probably because i tend to just enjoy wandering the world and immersing myself in it, and dont just try and race through and finish the game just for the sake of completing it.

+1. Plus very rarely did I use fast travel. Got 250 hours from the base game, then 30 more from HoS.

I'm currently on my second run with the game. I'm 90 hours in and still doing the main quests in Novigrad. Not using fast travel is the best decision for this game. I found out a lot of things I missed on my first playthrough back in may. With the current pace I have another 100+ hours easily.

Somehow I missed you could hide these POI on minimap and other distractions. That'll come handy on my second playthrough.

yeah I get it, but it's only logical that with the full minimap, the game should be finished faster, since there's really nothing to discover.

I'd imagine your playthrough without the minimap would be 300ish hours.

finished this up (dlc) on ng+ after 250 hours of solid play time and man oh man what a game, it would be an injustice if this does not get game of the year. i'm so impressed by the DLC, i've never seen another games add on content live up to the quality of this and it leaves me desperately wanting the next one and cyber

Finished Heart of Stone DLC. Am at 233Hours and have NG+ and there are still some locked chests and unvisited questionmarks left on the map Smile

Heart of Stone was great and added some interesting stuff to the main game, but quality wise the main story line is better. Still, a really good DLC for just 8 bucks Smile
